Prince Philip Is the Most Devoted Grandpa — And These 5 Pictures Prove It
Prince Philip has held many important titles over the years — including the Duke of Edinburgh — but one of his most valuable names has been “grandfather.” Though Prince Philip has a reputation for being a little rough around the edges and for having a rather colorful sense of humor, there’s no denying how much he adores his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. And Prince Philip’s grandchildren have had some of the sweetest things to say about him over the years in return.
For instance, Prince William spoke very highly of his beloved grandpa in a January 2018 speech at the Charity Commission for England and Wales. He gushed, “My grandfather Prince Philip has been one of the most tireless public servants of this country, deeply committed to helping young people fulfill their potential.”
Similarly, Prince Harry also publicly praised his grandfather in a 2012 interview for BBC, with a particular focus on the important relationship Prince Philip shares with wife Queen Elizabeth II. Prince Harry said, “Regardless of whether my grandfather seems to be doing his own thing, sort of wandering off like a fish down the river, the fact that he’s there — personally, I don’t think that she could do it without him, especially when they’re both at this age.”
Prince Philip’s grandchildren include not only Prince William and Prince Harry, but also Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise Windsor, and James, Viscount Severn. Although not all of them are in the spotlight quite as much, it’s clear that they all have a deep adoration of their grandfather. Considering how much devotion and dedication Prince Philip has shown his whole family over the years, it’s no wonder why.
