‘Big’ hit the big screen.
Big, starring Tom Hanks, was released in theaters on June 3, 1988, and was an immediate hit.
The Walkman was created.
This week in history, the SONY Walkman was developed in 1979 after SONY’s chairman, Masaru Ibuka, wanted to take music on the go.
‘I Can’t Stop Loving You’ topped the charts.
Ray Charles was at the top of the charts in both Pop and R&B with a country tune, “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” in 1962.
Corn flakes appeared on the market.
In 1884, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg applied for a patent for “flaked cereal.” But his brother Will Keith Kellogg marketed Corn Flakes commercially.
Yahtzee hit store shelves.
Yahtzee was created by a group of friends while on a yacht, and it was trademarked in 1956. The game sells 50 million sets per year. (And you can now play it online!)
