Season 2 of ‘Untamed’ Is Happening! What We Know About the Netflix National Park Murder Mystery Show
It seems like the mystery might take place in a different national park, spicing up the plot
If you love modern-day mysteries, then we have a new show for you. It’s called Untamed and it can be found on Netflix, and after less than a month on the streaming service, there is already some exciting Season 2 news that will take lead actor Eric Bana (Troy and Munich) back to Yosemite National Park and maybe even beyond. Below, we have everything you need to know about Untamed Season 2, including who’s expected to return, when it could air and of course, a quick spoiler-free recap of Season 1.
What happened in Season 1 of ‘Untamed’?
Season 1 of Untamed debuted on Netflix on July 17 and followed Investigative Services Branch (ISB) of the National Parks Service agent Kyle Turner (Bana) as he investigates the death of a woman who fell off the El Capitan summit in Yellowstone National Park.
“I just thought it was such a fantastic combination of the thriller genre, the suspense, the murder mystery, but most importantly, in the most incredible setting. The idea of following someone who’s trying to solve a crime, knocking on doors and driving a car, I’ve seen that so many times,” Bana told Variety earlier this year. “To see someone in a national park do it on a horse just seems so much more interesting and much more fun to do. I really loved the character of Kyle Turner. I attached myself immediately. I just got the elbows out and said, ‘Can we make this happen? And can I be Kyle, and what do we need to do?’”

The six-episode season ends with Kyle solving the case and beginning to move on. But not for long, since Season 2 is already in the works.
What we know about ‘Untamed’ Season 2
On July 29, Tudum by Netflix announced that the streaming service was gearing up to release another season of Untamed. This news came after the show reached Netflix’s Top 10 list right after its initial release.
“I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of Untamed to life,” Bana said in a statement. “The response to Season 1 has been a testament to the incredible effort by our crew to deliver something truly unique. I can’t wait to take Kyle on his next journey. Massive thanks to Netflix, John Wells Productions, Warner Bros. Television and our fans.”
Also in that initial release, co-creators Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith will be leaving California behind; however, they didn’t share where the show would be heading.
“We’ve done Yosemite. What’s the next park that could feel different from that?” Elle tells Tudum. “Each national park has such a different cultural identity, geographical identity. Being able to explore those places through the case and through Turner’s journey is what’s so fascinating.”

Mark added onto that, saying “We can make the case organic to a different kind of park, a different kind of landscape [and] not have someone just fall off another mountain.”
“Turner was so comfortable in Yosemite,” he continued. “He was the one leading this charge and people followed him. And now, [we’re] putting Kyle on his back foot, making him very uncomfortable … This time we get to follow Turner into a park and let him lead us, and we stumble along with him as he’s kind of finding his way.”
As of publication, there is no news on whether any other cast members will be joining Bana, but Mark did hint at it the answer, saying, “We’re trying to figure that stuff out because, my God, we loved our cast and we loved the characters that they brought to life. In an ideal world, we would be able to pull something off.”
‘Untamed’ Season 2 release date
Since Season 1 just aired, there is no news on when Season 2 of Untamed will release.
