Keep reading for tips on preparing caramel apple dump cake so you can bake and take it to a gathering or enjoy it right at home!

What is caramel apple dump cake?

This dump cake consists of a caramel apple filling and a yellow cake topping. It’s sweet and buttery, so it’s great to enjoy on its own or with a scoop of ice cream.

What is the biggest mistake to avoid when making a dump cake?

Making dump cake involves adding the ingredients, including box cake mix and butter, to your baking pan without stirring them together. This may sound odd but it allows for separate layers of fruit and cake to form instead of resulting in a mushy dessert. So, while it’s tempting to stir the mixture, stick to layering the ingredients into the pan according to your recipe’s instructions for best results. Simple ingredient shortcut for the caramel apple filling

Using apple pie filling for this cake saves you time peeling and chopping the fruit. This canned pie filling also comes sweetened so you don’t have to add any additional sugar. However, warming spices like cinnamon and even caramel candies can be included so the dump cake mirrors the flavors of caramel apple.

How to make caramel apple dump cake

Stephanie Keeping, blogger and owner at Spaceships and Laser Beams, shares caramel apple dump cake recipe on her YouTube channel. In a surprising twist, this recipe uses salted butter instead of the unsalted variety. Salt enhances the flavors of other ingredients in baked goods, so it’s not too out of the ordinary. Also, it complements the caramel candies as a nod to salted caramel treats. This dessert preps from start to finish in well under an hour and is guaranteed dessert favorite.
