Not Sure What to Cook? This Website Will Find Recipes Based On What You Have in Your Kitchen

Take the guesswork out of keeping everyone in your house fed.

Like most people practicing social distancing for the foreseeable future, I made sure to stock my kitchen before shutting myself inside to help stop the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Apart from making sure I don’t snack away all of the food too quickly, I’ve often found myself staring at my ingredients and not knowing exactly what to cook with them. Thankfully, I found a website that takes all of the guesswork out of planning my next meal.

It’s called SuperCook and it is honestly so genius: Just plug in all of the ingredients and food items you have already sitting in your kitchen and the site will quickly populate a list of recipes from all over the web that include those exact items.

You can refine the suggested recipes by vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten free, and lactose free diets. It also lets you highlight certain meal types and cuisines, but I particularly like that you can pick a key ingredient to focus on. For example, I have some Brussels sprouts in my fridge that I want to do something with soon, so I narrowed it down to show just vegetarian recipes that include that as the main ingredient:

The recipes come from trusted culinary sources like Food Network and MyRecipes, and as you can see, there’s no shortage of matches.

Worried about maintaining a ketogenic, paleo, or any other type of diet, while quarantined? You can add those terms into the search box (the little magnifying glass) and it will make sure you only see those types of recipes.

The website also offers this handy service on their Android and Apple mobile apps, too, making it even easier to carry around recipes on your phone or tablet while prepping a dish. Plus, you can create an account to keep track of your favorites.

Another bonus? This can be a fun way to inspire your kids to help you cook — especially if they’re picky eaters. After adding in all the ingredients you want to use, they can take a scroll through the recipes and pick which one they want to make together! Anything to keep the peace while also encouraging them to learn a new skill is definitely worth a try — at least while the whole family is cooped up in close-quarters.

With all of the questions and uncertainties floating around in the world right now, it’s nice to at least have a little help making our daily meal decisions!
