No Tricks, Just Treats: 6 Easy Halloween Games for Preschoolers

Halloween is looming near, and if you have a grandchild in preschool, you probably want to treat him or her to some festive games for the holiday. Maybe you’re even thinking about throwing a party for all your tiniest family members and their friends. The only problem is that if you have really young grandchildren, it can be hard to know what Halloween activities are appropriate for them. Luckily, we saved you the stress and found some easy Halloween games for preschoolers that are perfect for your haunted get-together!

Witch Pitch

The Witch Pitch game is guaranteed fun, and it looks super spooky-cute, too. Cut out a giant witch hat from a black foam board, and hot-glue candy corn as a trim in the middle of the hat. Then, use orange construction paper to line the other edges. Hot-glue some miniature cauldrons ($7.99, Amazon) to the board, and don’t forget to add the words “Witch Pitch” onto the hat’s brim. From there, just let the children throw candy corn into each miniature cauldron. Whoever gets the most in wins the game — though let’s face it, once candy corn is involved, nobody’s losing!

Mummy-Sack Race

A variation on the classic game, all you need to do for a mummy-sack race is wrap white crepe streamers around the kiddos’ legs and let them race to a finish line. Just make sure they’re playing on a soft ground so that their scramble is ouch-less!

Spider Threading

This is a great one-on-one game if you’re trying to boost a toddler’s motor skills and ability to match. Using plastic spider rings (we all have a fleet left over from years of trick-or-treating) and striped black-and-orange straws, have your tiny tyke stack the spiders according to color.

Punch the Box

We love that there are only winners in simple Halloween games like this one. Fill plastic cups with a variety of candies and Halloween treats, and overlay with orange tissue paper. Then, cut circles into an (ideally spray-painted) cardboard box and put in the covered cups. Have kids push the tissue through to see what their prize is. No tricks, just treats!

Mummy Bowling

Bowl like an Egyptian! We love this simple way of jazzing up generic plastic bowling pins by wrapping them up in spare TP (and doing the same with a soft plastic ball). But we have to say, adding the googly eyes and teensy bowls really amps up the charm of mummy bowling. This game also fits very nicely alongside the rest of your Halloween decorations.

Halloween Sensory “I Spy” Bottles

Another good game for toddlers, this is one of the best easy Halloween games to keep kids entertained. Fill plastic bottles with a mixture of beads and tiny Halloween trinkets from the dollar store. Halloween erasers and plastic spider rings would work well here. Once you hot-glue the cap on top, have kids take a look at what creepy characters are inside, and see if they can name them all!
