Newscaster Calls Simone Biles’ Adoptive Mom and Dad ‘Not Her Parents.’ But Her Personal Photos Say It All
When U.S. Olympic gymnast Simone Biles was 5 years old, she was adopted by her grandfather, Ron Biles, and his wife, Nellie. Ever since her biological mom was deemed unfit to care for her and her sister, Ron and Nellie have been her mom and dad. So when NBC commentator Al Trautwig refused to call them her parents, outrage ensued.
So @AlTrautwig deleted his horribly rude & insulting comment but guess what, screenshot. @NBCOlympics #simonebiles pic.twitter.com/m6EtwJi1Ln

As you can see from this tweet Trautwig later deleted, he had referred to her parents as “Simone’s grandfather and his wife.” Unsurprisingly, many people were unhappy about this, but he only apologized a day after it happened.
When Biles was asked her opinion on the matter, she said, “I personally don’t have a comment. My parents are my parents and that’s it.”
But just in case anyone had anymore questions, they could take a look at some of her personal photos she’s shared of them. They really tell you all you need to know.
