The Bizarre Reason These Identical Twins Will Have Birthdays That Are Months Apart
Twins have to get used to sharing–but these two brothers will always have something unique that the other can’t claim: a birthday.
Wait–that’s one thing that identical twins by definition must have in common, right? Not always. In really rare cases, doctors can do what’s called a “delayed internal delivery” in case either twin needs to stay in utero longer. That’s just what’s happening to one Washington couple, Nick and Holli Gorveatt, whose first son, Link, was born at 23 weeks this past September.
Brother Logan, however, has a due date of January 2016.
“It’s very surreal to be post-partum and pre-partum,” Holli told ABC’s Seattle affiliate KOMO-TV.
Um, we would think so! In fact, according to their doctor, Dr. Martin Walker, this family’s case may be the longest interval between twin births ever documented. Here’s their remarkable story.
