What are Lori Mitchell figurines?

Lori Mitchell was founded in 1998 in Marietta, Georgia, by, you guessed it, Lori Mitchell, and has since become one of the most sought-after home decor brands of this century thanks to its whimsical, handmade decor. Each item features boys and girls with skinny legs, pink cheeks and an open-mouthed expression celebrating a variety of occasions. Each character also has a name and the name will often match what they are doing.

“I grew up drawing everything. I had an amazing high school art teacher who taught so many different mediums, both 2-D and 3-D. To look back on that work, I’m not sure you could draw a straight line to what I create now. As any creative, it is so important to experiment and find out what works and speaks to you. My work now just feels like an extension of me somehow. I just kind of sat back and let the characters come out to play, but it took time to find that,” Mitchell told Christmas Traditions in June 2023. “I’ve always loved the ridiculously skinny legs that hold my little people up in the world. Adding flair to accentuate that element is always fun. Ultimately, I really play with the colors and patterns of the entire piece to determine what is needed. Sometimes more is more and sometimes less is more… Sometimes the painting comes easily and other times I re-work, over-work and then re-work again.”

Currently, the company has more than 1,000 figurines in their collection. They range anywhere from someone dressed up as a scarecrow on Halloween, to a boy surfing in the summer, to someone in a Christmas tree costume and there is even someone dressed up like a reindeer.

There is also an entire Wizard of Oz line that features people dressed up as Dorothy, Glinda, the Wicked Witch of the West, Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, a flying monkey, the Great and Powerful Oz and the Munchkins on Halloween. This collection is this author’s favorite, and she is constantly searching for them when she goes decor shopping.

Are there any Thanksgiving Lori Mitchell figurines?

Yes, there are plenty of Thanksgiving Lori Mitchell figurines, and they are just as adorable as you would think. Some standouts include “Mason Mayflower,” who is dressed up like a pilgrim and holding an orange pumpkin. There is also “Grateful Greta,” who is also dressed up like a pilgrim and sitting on a pumpkin.

Not into the people? No worries! Lori Mitchell also has “Gourdy,” which is a gourd dressed up like a pilgrim, and “Pumpkin Spice,” a pumpkin dressed up like a pilgrim.

Perhaps the best Thanksgiving figurine out there is Turk or Treat, which features a young man dressed up like a Thanksgiving turkey for Halloween. He is even carrying a Thanksgiving trick-or-treat bag, making it perfect for this time of year.

Where to buy Lori Mitchell figurines

Lori Mitchell figurines are available at a variety of stores, including Amazon, Lori Mitchell website and Michaels. They are also available at some online holiday decor stores such as Christmas Traditions.

Additionally, shoppers online have reported finding these figurines at places like Marshalls, TJ Maxx and HomeGoods. Now, like a lot of items at those stores, these items aren’t listed on their website, and those who did find them had to really dig for them.

So if you’re hoping to get one the next time you’re shopping at a HomeGoods, Marshalls or TJ Maxx, you better be prepared to shop till you drop, because these little figurines aren’t that easy to find.
