Painted Pinecones Are the Perfect No-Water ‘Flowers’ for Your Table
If you think pinecones are only good for winter decorations, please allow us to introduce you to painted pinecone zinnias. This DIY pinecone craft is perfect for the spring and summer months, providing eye-popping colors and an easy-peasy method of getting the project done quickly. In other words, say hello to the spring and summer centerpiece you didn’t know your home needed.
Talented blogger Vanessa Valencia of A Fanciful Twist came up with the brilliant idea to transform simple pinecone bottoms into a glorious “bouquet” of zinnia flowers. If you’re anything like us, you’re probably asking yourself, “Why didn’t I think of this?” As many gardening gurus know, zinnias always offer a fresh set of bright colors, boasting several different shades and making for a great statement in a garden or vase. Other than their lovely hues, these flowers are also famous for not needing a ridiculous amount of upkeep to maintain their freshness.
But Valencia’s twist makes this an even better option for many of us with busy schedules and mouths to feed. We can enjoy one day of blissful crafting with our loved ones, picking and choosing what colors we want to include in our bouquet on a whim, and then all we have to do is arrange the centerpiece to fit our hearts’ desire. The best part? We won’t have to worry about watering these babies afterward.
So if you’re itching to make room in your home for some painted pinecone zinnias, just grab some pinecones and standard acrylic craft paint and get ready for the envy of all your houseguests. Read Valencia’s blog post for the full instructions here.
Don’t worry if it’s been a while since you’ve broken out the craft supplies. This project is the perfect opportunity to get inspired and think of your own creative twist on the bouquet that fits the rest of your home’s style and your personal taste. Talented crafter Jamie Critzer put her own spin on painted pinecone zinnias in the friendly assortment seen below.
We’re more than ready to welcome the warmer months ahead, and these beauties will help us do just that. Now, we just need to pick our colors!
