This most recent Mercury retrograde in Scorpio and Sagittarius may have encouraged you to rest, reflect, be mindful, tend to old business or, in all honesty, pull your hair out. Every Mercury retrograde has the potential to deliver both silver linings and challenges galore. But as of Saturday, November 29, you can kiss this particular Mercury backspin goodbye, because the messenger planet will go direct, slowly but surely moving ahead. Over the next few weeks, you’ll find communication, transportation and technology will run smoother than they have recently, and you can begin to once more build momentum on projects that might’ve been held up since Mercury went retrograde back on Sunday, November 9.

As an astrologer and the author of Mercury Magic: How to Thrive During Retrogrades and Tap Into the Power of the Messenger Planet All Year Long, I can reassure you that the lessons you learned over the course of Mercury’s three-week backspin will prove useful — if not soon, then certainly at some point down the road. Read on for more details on how to make the most of Mercury moving direct through fixed water sign Scorpio following its retrograde.

Mercury retrograde ends: big picture takeaways

  • The final Mercury retrograde of 2025 ends on November 29, and it’ll slowly but surely move forward in mysterious, dynamic, magnetic fixed water sign Scorpio.
  • Until December 11, you’ll have the chance to move the ball forward on projects and plans that might have been held up over the last three weeks, especially in a particular area of life that was last activated in late October.
  • With Mercury in an emotional water sign and several other planets in water signs, as well, acknowledge heavy, challenging feelings that have come up recently and allow them to inform forward movement.

When will Mercury be direct in Scorpio?

Starting Saturday, November 29 at 12:38 p.m. ET/9:38 a.m. PT, Mercury will be direct (also known as moving ahead or not retrograde) in Scorpio. It will then retrace its path through the later degrees of the water sign up until it moves into fire sign Sagittarius on Thursday, December 11 at 5:40 p.m. ET/2:40 p.m. PT.

It bears noting that Mercury moved forward through these very same degrees of Scorpio from October 21 to 29. So think back to that period for a sense of the themes and lessons that could be coming up for you once more — except, this time, you’ll have useful self-reflection and potentially even intuitive epiphanies to guide how you respond.

When your ruling planet, messenger Mercury, goes retrograde, you feel it more than most signs, and this time around, it probably felt even more stereotypically chaos-inducing than usual, because it’s been retrograde in your communication zone since November 18. All those communication glitches and technology meltdowns served a greater purpose: urging you to get more assertive and direct when expressing your thoughts — and to be more intentional with how you’re exerting your mental energy. Now, as Mercury moves forward here, you’ll have the wind in your sails to apply anything you’ve learned over the last few weeks. In turn, your confidence could soar, and you’ll feel more heard by colleagues, friends and loved ones.
