At 65 Years Old, Christie Brinkley Says Caring for Her Dogs Helps Her Look and Feel Young
Christie Brinkley’s age comes as a surprise to many folks out there — us included. (Seriously, how old is Christie Brinkley now, because she looks fabulous?) At 65 years young, Christie Brinkley’s glowing skin, flowing blonde locks, and seriously enviable figure keep her looking 20 years younger.
If you, like us, are wondering, “How does Christie Brinkley look so young?” you’ll be pleased to know that her secret to staying healthy, keeping fit, and feeling good has finally been revealed: her dogs.
Yes, really! Brinkley opened up about how her pups, named Maple and Chester, have helped her live her best life while aging in a healthy way. And we can’t lie: The fact that furry friends are involved makes her daily routine even more enticing.
“My dogs and I feel best when we start out the day with a short run, and we especially love running on outdoor trails,” Brinkley said. “It’s more interesting for the dogs and works more leg muscles than running on a treadmill.”
She said that because she loves to eat (we hear you, sister!), she likes to jump-start her metabolism by getting this physical activity in with her dogs.
But she doesn’t stop her healthy mornings there. Afterward, she whips up a green smoothie with one cup of chopped kale, 1/4 avocado, the juice of one orange, the juice of half a lime, 1 cup of ice, and a half cup of coconut water.
And for her dogs, who happen to be getting up there in age, she opts for specially designed formulas for senior dogs, such as Purina Pro Plan BRIGHT MIND and PRIME PLUS.
The statuesque beauty (“How tall is Christie Brinkley?” is a common question when you see photos of the leggy 5’9″ model) admitted that as she’s gotten older, it’s not always been easy to motivate herself to exercise every single day. (Again, we totally hear you, sister!) Still, she has an easy workaround.
“If you can’t get motivated to exercise for your heart or fitness, do it for your four-legged ‘personal trainers,’” she said.
Aww, that almost makes us motivated enough to hop on the elliptical right now — almost.
Brinkley’s activity doesn’t stop with the physical, either. She also works on keeping her mind active by challenging herself to learn new things, like the Italian language. She sets an hour aside each week to study new words and practice her conversation skills. Impressive!
But what’s even more impressive is that despite Brinkley’s busy schedule, she’s still able to find time to be thankful for all that she has — and that may just be one of her best tips to staying young.
“Take time every day to appreciate all that you have accomplished!” she said. “Maintaining an ‘attitude of gratitude’ gives me a deep sense of positivity and keeps me feeling young at heart.”
