Wouldn’t it be nice to feel the day’s tension just slip away? Here, design pros share their easy (and affordable!) tips — like adding fresh-picked blooms and soothing hues — for transforming any bathroom into a spa-inspired sanctuary where you can soak away your stress.

Corral clutter and bring in some blooms.

“It’s easy to turn any bathroom into a relaxing oasis, but my first step is always organizing — it’s calming when clutter is out of sight,” says interior designer Meridith Baer. Another beautiful idea: Pop blooms from the yard into jars or bring in a potted plant. “They add an elegant flourish, plus most plants thrive from the shower steam.”

Stack towels in a cubby and light a candle.

“All it takes is a simple cubby or shelf unit to set up an eye-catching yet functional bathroom vignette,” says Cutler. “Folding a stack of fluffy towels and grouping them in one spot creates visual appeal and keeps your essentials within reach.” To complete the “spa corner,” in your personal bathroom spa, place one or two candles on the top shelf and pop greenery into crisp white vases. Tip: For extra relaxation add 5 drops of lavender or vanilla essential oil to the vase or to an unscented candle — the heat will release the calming scent.

Choose pink accents with woven white touches.

“Showcasing shades of pink in the bathroom sets a lighthearted, cheery mood,” says interior designer Mark Cutler. “Whether you paint the room pink or just bring in pink towels or mats, the light rosy hue acts as a pick-me-up.” To get this look, he recommends starting small with pretty, pink accents (like a wreath, vase or garden blooms), then layering in a few white woven touches to add texture and interest. Other low-cost ideas: “Hanging a sheer white curtain offers privacy while keeping the space airy, and filling small baskets with soaps, salts and bubble bath lends a luxurious feel.”
