3 Nourishing Soaks for Naturally Healthy Nails

To ensure maximum nail health, you’ll also want to take care to nourish your cuticles and keep your nail beds bright and strong. We’ve come up with three home remedies for healthy nails that will help to target some our biggest nail woes and turn back the hands of time — literally! 

From ragged cuticles to yellow and brittle nails, these healthful soaks will help you show off your best nails yet.

Get Rid of Ragged Nails 

To keep the skin around your nails looking its best, mix 1⁄4 cup of almond oil, like this one from Viva Naturals ($12.62, Amazon) into a bowl, then soak your digits for 10 minutes before massaging in the residue. Its rich vitamin E will moisturize cuticles and further protect them from the pesky peeling, cracking, and drying, all of which can result in painful hangnails.

Make Yellow Nails Clear 

In a bowl, mix the juice from half a lemon (about 1 Tbs. of Nellie & Joe’s Key West lemon juice, $6.89, Amazon) with 1 cup of warm water, soak nails for 15 minutes, then buff them with the leftover lemon rind. The fruit’s citric acid lifts stains embedded deep within nails, while its vitamin C further brightens.

Strengthen Brittle Nails 

Mix 2 Tbs.of minced kale with 1⁄4 cup of olive oil ($9.49, Amazon) in a bowl; microwave until warm, then soak nails for five minutes. The kale boosts keratin production to strengthen nails thanks to vitamins A, C, and K, plus calcium, while the oil’s vitamin E helps to repair damage.
