Fight Dry, Thinning Hair With Fragrant Jasmine Oil

Treat your strands and your scalp.

As we get older, things like hair loss become more of a problem. When your hormones change and the body produces less estrogen, you might find that there are more hairs in your brush each morning and your strands look a bit dry and lackluster. Luckily, jasmine oil for hair loss can help treat the problem.

Familiar with the jasmine plant and its gorgeous, fragrant white flowers? What you may not know is that you can actually distill essential oil from them and use it as a simple, at-home beauty treatment for thinning hair and scalp build-up.

Not only does it smell absolutely heavenly, but jasmine oil is packed with nutrients that can benefit your hair and skin health. Keeping the scalp clear of harmful bacteria is essential for healthy hair and jasmine oil is a natural antiviral, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. This means that using it on the scalp can help prevent build up of bacteria and microbes that may be clogging the hair follicles, causing your strands to fall out.

Jasmine oil is also rich in fatty acids that may improve scalp health and hair texture. It acts as an emollient, which means it can lock moisture into the hair shaft leaving your locks looking shiny and smooth. A dry scalp can also cause follicles to become weak, leading to excessive hair loss. Emollients like jasmine oil can help combat the problem and restore moisture to both the scalp and the strands

To use jasmine oil as a hair treatment, you can either apply a few drops to your scalp and simply rub it in before washing, or you can create a hair mask.

For a simple DIY jasmine oil hair mask, use a carrier oil like four tablespoons of melted coconut oil or olive oil, and mix with 10 drops jasmine essential oil. Apply the mask from root to tip, really focusing on your scalp and your ends. Allow the mixture to soak in your hair for at least 30 minutes (or overnight!) then wash as usual. You may need to shampoo twice to fully wash the oil out. Apply this mask at least twice a week for best results.

Using jasmine oil as a hair treatment at home is a simple yet luxurious self-care ritual we highly recommend. Besides the result of fabulous flowing locks, you’ll also smell like a field of flowers. What’s not to love? For one we love, check out this one!
