Valerie Bertinelli Gives Us the Dirt on Her Cats — “He’s Annoyed by Everybody Except Me”

Just when we thought we couldn't love Valerie more!

Family is more than just the people you’re related to. Family sometimes has fur and four legs — and if you have a pet, you know exactly what I mean. Our dogs, cats, and other animal companions offer connection, comedy, and most importantly, unconditional love. While it may not seem like we have much in common with celebrities, the exception to that rule is Valerie Bertinelli, who has a home full of furry friends that she treats like family. We talked to Valerie about her kitties and their sweet personalities; keep reading to learn more about what makes them purrrfect.

Valerie Bertinelli’s Pet Paradise

Bertinelli shares her home with a rescue dog, Luna, and six cats. She loves all her animals equally, but because her family is so feline-forward, we asked her about the kitties: Batman, Tigger, Henry, Bubba, Beau, and Nelson. We love their names, and not just because Betty White came up with two of them — one of them being Luna. “I think about her all the time,” Bertinelli said of White in January 2022. “She named two of my pets, so she’s just always around me.”

While these cats are all cute, that’s pretty much the only thing they have in common; they each have markedly distinct personalities. Bertinelli even has an Instagram account (@wolfiesmeow) where she documents their daily doings. If you’re not following it already, you’re missing out.

When asked about her cats’ personalities, Bertinelli couldn’t wait to share. “Batman is the smallest of the house; he’s the king of the house,” she began. “He’s all black and he’s my baby and he’s the one that kind of sleeps with me more than anybody else. I think he’s like 9 pounds.

Then there is Tigger who is the big one. I think he’s like 13 or 14 pounds and he’s the one that greets me at the top of the stairs every morning. He doesn’t come in.  Sometimes he’ll come in and sleep next to me during the day if I take a nap, but he likes to sit outside and then he greets me and meows for me in the morning. He’s the morning meower.

Henry is Mr. Cool, Mr. Chill. He absolutely loves Andrea, Wolfies fiancé, and then Bubba and Beau are my mom’s cats and they live with me now. Bubba and Beau absolutely adore Wolfie.  Wolfie comes over here to purposely take his shoes off so Bubba will rub all around his shoes so he has Bubba’s fur on his shoes when he goes out on tour.

Then there’s Nelson who was the very, very first foster failure of mine who is a little bit flighty, but he’s so gorgeous and so sweet. Nelson, I think, believes that he wishes he was an only cat because he would be great if none of the other five cats were here. He’s annoyed by everybody in the house except me. “

Our Favorite Pet Pics From Valerie’s Instagram

After hearing about Valerie Bertinelli’s cats, wouldn’t you like to see them in action? While every post on her Instagram is paw-some, there are definitely some standouts. Here are some of our favorites.

Batman snuggling with Valerie in bed.

Turn up the volume for his sweet purring. What a way to start the day!

Tigger on the stairs.

He’s right where Valerie said he likes to be. His tiny meow is melting our hearts.

Nelson doesn’t like dining alone.

If you’re eating with Nelson, it’s best to get a table for two.

Dynamic Duo, Bubba and Beau, soaking up the sun.

With a catio like that, I’d be taking in some rays, too.

Valerie helps Henry get his music career off the ground.

Encore, Henry! Encore!

Such photogenic kitties.

Luna the pup, ready for her walk.

Not technically a kitty — but so cute, she deserves a shout-out.

Valerie Bertinelli is relatable not just because she loves her pets, but also because it seems like she can’t stop taking photos of them. (My phone’s camera roll is full of my dog.)
