Bible Verses For Loneliness: Divine Comfort For Times When Your Heart Feels Alone

A recent report reveals more than 50% of Americans suffer from chronic loneliness — here's help

There are times when we’re alone and relish in the feeling of freedom and other times when our hearts hurt from that lonely feeling of isolation. Indeed, a report issued in May 2023 from the U.S Surgeon General’s office finds that more than half of all American adults suffer from measurable levels of loneliness. The Surgeon General calls out loneliness as the newest health epidemic because the health impacts of chronic loneliness are significant: They include a 29% increased risk of heart disease, a 32% increased risk of stroke, and a 50% increased risk of developing dementia for older adults.

During those times when we feel forgotten, it’s important to understand it is we are actually the ones doing the forgetting. As Christians, we understand that the connection we long for does not come from something or somebody outside of ourselves: It dwells alongside us. God has pitched His tent beside you: All you need to do is remember. As John the Evangelist writes in Revelation 21:3 (NKJV): “And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.'” Here, a selection of verses to reflect on and help you remember the One who loves you, always.
