Weight Watchers Has Added More Than 200 Foods to Their Zero-Points List

Good news, dieters: Weight Watchers has added more than 200 items to its list of zero-calorie options. No longer will the list include just fruits and veggies that, well, honestly taste alright but never seem to fill you up. Now, Weight Watchers is OK’ing tasty treats like chicken, fish, and yogurt.

Weight Watchers Changes

Weight Watchers’ new WW Freestyle program is intended to be an easier, simpler way to adhere to adhere to the company’s points-based dieting system. Additions like skinless chicken breasts, all fish, all seafood, skinless turkey breast, tofu, lentils, peas, beans, eggs, corn, and non-fat plain yogurt are sure to make Weight Watchers members cheer.

“The new Freestyle program offers a wide range of zero Points foods that guide members toward a healthier pattern of eating. It gives people the freedom and flexibility they need to make significant changes on and off the scale,” Gary Foster, PhD, the chief scientific officer of Weight Watchers International, Inc. said in a news release.

Another change is that dieters can roll over up to four unused points to the next day. “When I first heard about it, I thought it was too good to be true — the fish, beans and corn in my favorite tacos are now zero Points!” Oprah Winfrey said.

In a six-month clinical trial at the University of North Carolina Weight Research Lab, participants using the WW Freestyle program lost an average of 7.9 percent of their body weight after six months, and an astounding 93.6 percent agreed they felt fuller on WW Freestyle. “The results are the best we’ve ever seen for a Weight Watchers program in a clinical trial,” Dr. Foster said.

“We’re constantly innovating to make our program even simpler and more livable,” Mindy Grossman, president and chief executive officer of Weight Watchers International, Inc. “Freestyle is simple, freeing, and it delivers results. It helps you live your best life.”

And with January 1 fast approaching, losing weight in 2018 might be an attainable New Year’s resolution, especially if you like having more freedom to choose what you like to eat.
