No matter how “good” we’ve been about diet and exercise throughout the year, slipping into a swimsuit for the first time every summer can feel like quite a conundrum. On the one hand, who doesn’t love a trip to the beach or pool to soak in some rays (with sunscreen!) and enjoy a refreshing dip in the water? At the same time, the thought of baring that much skin always fills us with a little dread.
We know that no matter what shape we’re in, every body is a beach body, and we try to feel as confident possible in the skin we are in. But we would be lying if we said our ears didn't perk up up a bit when we heard about the two-ingredient drink that Dr. Oz says will help us slim down a smidge before summer.
Dr. Oz suggests drinking one cup of grapefruit juice mixed with two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before every meal to help you shed a few pounds and feel more confident as you splash around this summer. If you find the drink to be too tart for your palate, you can add a teaspoon of honey to sweeten things up.
“The juice is loaded with vitamin C, which will help you burn fat faster,” his website explains. “Meanwhile, the acetic acid in the vinegar may switch on genes your body needs to pump out fat-burning proteins.”
As helpful as the drink might be, you shouldn’t expect magical results from it alone. Dr. Oz also lists things like chowing down on healthy salads with fat-fighting nutrients such as dandelion greens, which act as a mild diuretic to reduce water weight. He also recommends investing in a cream with aminophylline, an antioxidant which helps to "temporarily shrink fat cells," to soothe patches of cellulite. You can find a ton of options online, such as the Fat-Fader Body Toning Lotion ($39.95, Amazon).
Whatever makes you feel beautiful and keep insecurities from ruining the warm weather is always worth it. Don’t let bashfulness stop you from having the best summer ever!
