Kelly Preston, actress and wife of John Travolta, passed away on July 12, 2020, at 57.

Along with thanking the medical professionals and friends who helped Preston stay strong throughout her difficult battle, Travolta explained he will understandably be taking time away from the public to “be there for my children who have lost their mother.”

The couple, who married in 1991, have three children together — Ella (20), Jett (9), and their late son Jett, who passed away in 2009. Travolta ended by saying, “But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal.”

Ella also shared a tribute to her mom on Instagram, writing, “I have never met anyone as courageous, strong, beautiful, and loving as you. Anyone who is lucky enough to have known you or to have ever been in your presence will agree that you have a glow and a light that never ceases to shine and that makes anyone around you feel instantly happy.” See the full message below:

Travolta and Ella’s posts have both been flooded with comments from friends, fans, and loved ones offering sympathy and sharing memories of Preston. Singer Mariah Carey wrote, “Sending so much love to you and your family in this heartbreaking moment.” Talk show host Andy Cohen echoed those sentiments with his message, “Heaven got a new angel. Sending love to your family.”

Russell Crowe shared a memory on his Twitter page of auditioning with Preston for a film in the 90s:

Spencer Breslin, who played Preston’s son in The Cat in the Hat, also shared his condolences on Twitter:

Longtime friend Rita Wilson posted several photos of her and Preston (and their husbands) from over the years. She described the late actress as, “Such a beautiful soul, sparkling eyes exuding kindness and strength. She found the joy in life. She loved fiercely. Loved her beautiful children Jett, Ella, and Ben, and loved her husband. ” Take a look at the full tribute below:

Preston was known for her roles in films like Jerry MaguireWhat a Girl Wants, and her final film, Gotti, which co-starred her husband in the titular role. However, she was clearly even more beloved by those around her for her strength, kindness, and love.

Our thoughts are with Preston’s family and all of those mourning this loss.
