We can all use a good pep talk to boost our spirits now and then, right? Funny lady Melissa McCarthy recently shared a few inspiring words that she stumbled upon in a sweet note she wrote to herself years ago.
The Thunder Force actress didn’t elaborate on exactly how much time has passed since she wrote the note, but that the sentiment “still stands.” We couldn’t agree more after reading the amusing and heartwarming list of tips she jotted down. Our favorites include, “call mom,” “for the love of God — buy both pairs of shoes,” “it’s OK to cry it out,” and, arguably the best advice, “just eat the damn cookie!!”
Take a look to see the full note:
We’re so glad McCarthy decided to share this uplifting note with the rest of us! We might also be considering printing it out to hang up in our home. It could especially come in handy on those days we really need to remember to “go all in!”
This isn’t the first time we’ve been inspired by McCarthy’s no-nonsense wisdom. Last year, she shared advice that she gives her own daughters, Vivian, 14, and Georgette, 11. “Kids that age are always thinking, ‘Does someone think I look silly?’ I tell them, it’s all silly and we’re all idiots!” McCarthy added, “How boring would it be if we were all the same? We’re drawn to each other because of all our weird, unexplainable character quirks. Life is short. Just be yourself!”
And we can’t forget her refreshingly simple tip for losing weight: Just stop worrying and obsessing about it! She elaborated, “I think there’s something to kinda loosening up and not being so nervous and rigid about [losing weight] that, bizarrely, has worked.”
Does anyone else think McCarthy could have a new career writing books filled with self love tips and reminders? We’d definitely add it to our reading list! In the meantime, let’s just hope she keeps sharing her humorously heartfelt words with us on social media.
