Over 50 and Fabulous: The New Show From QVC Everyone’s Talking About

There’s a new show in town, and we can’t wait to tune in. If you’ve always wished for a series focused on maturing women’s issues — think menopause, skincare, style — Over 50 and Fabulous needs to be on your radar.

Premiering on Friday, February 3, 8PM on QVC, the show is hosted by Mally Roncal, celebrity makeup artist and founder of Mally Beauty. The lifestyle show will blend the immersive shopping experience the channel is known for with hot topics women in their fifties (or fiercsties, as Mally calls it) need to know. There will be six episodes in total, plus a streaming After Show. Viewers are encouraged to call in with all their questions about health, relationships, fashion, and more. No matter how emotional or taboo the subject, Mally wants to go there. And we’re ready for it!

A Different Type Of Talk Show

Over 50 and Fabulous is positioning itself to be a groundbreaking series. Using the education, wit, and approachability that QVC is known for, the series challenges the tired narrative that women over 50 are, well… old.

It’s easy to feel invisible in a culture that prizes youth above all things. While more age-inclusive brands are hitting the market, we still have a way to go in showing the world that life does, in fact, get better with age.

Mally, who recently turned 51 this January, is the perfect example. The author and motivational speaker is just as vivacious — and gorgeous — as she was when she first appeared on QVC in 2005. While doing the makeup for stars has certainly been a highlight of her career, Mally Beauty, at its heart, has always been about showing everyday women how to use makeup to make them feel like their best self. Over 50 and Fabulous is a project close to her heart.

“It’s funny,” she says of entering the decade. “When I turned 50, I remember thinking, I don’t know what I’m supposed to feel like, but I have a feeling it’s not this.”

Like so many of us, Mally was taught that the decade was something to dread. Fortunately, she’s found — and shows others – nothing could be further from the truth. All the things she possessed in her younger days, such as her energetic spirit and love of beauty, remain, only now she places less importance on what others think.

While she jokes that things like hot flashes and brain fog, take time to get used to, she’s found the decade empowering and hopes the show will make others feel the same. The mother of three teenage daughters spent most of her life as a self-admitted people pleaser. However, she said once she turned 50, that changed, and she hopes Over 50 and Fabulous inspires women to celebrate all they milestones they’ve accomplished. “You’ve earned those stripes. You’ve slayed those dragons. You’ve made it through, and you’ve survived!

“I don’t feel old. I don’t feel like I need to cut my hair or change the way I dress- unless I want to… Don’t listen to what you think you have to do because [it’s] what society says, because [women] have come a long way.”

While Over 50 and Fabulous and its After Show will be an opportunity for women to share the joys and challenges, it will also serve as a resource. Viewers can look forward to a weekly collection of skincare, hair care, fashion, and other must-haves that address common concerns.

Rumor has it that Vionic will be one of the featured brands, which we love for their supportive and stylish footwear. DreamShaper by Miracle Suit — so good for smoothing area, as well as EV Rider, Peace Love World, NuFace, and Josie Maran are also on the lineup.

Shopping opportunities will be woven into the series’ different themes, such as ‘Things I wish someone would have told me,’ ‘Treat Yourself’ and ‘TMI,’ and each lesson and tip learned in each episode will carry into the next. We’re officially marking our calendars, and are looking forward to pouring ourselves a glass of vino and enjoying the fun.

Mally expects the show to be a positive experience where women can enjoy a safe, judgement free space to talk, learn, and grow. “It’s part retail therapy but also about proving the tips and tricks to make life easier, internally and externally. It will be a great mix of things that make [women] look and feel better at 50 plus.”
