This Artist Is Going Around Giving Tattoos to Little Kids, But the Reason Why Everyone Loves It Will Shock You

The only tattoos most kids get are stick-ons that disappear a few days later. But one man is going above and beyond to create more lasting body art for youngsters, and it’s all for a good cause.

New Zealand artist Benjamin Lloyd has been airbrushing tattoos for 10 years, but recently began painting on adults for fun. Once he decided to switch to kids, the reaction he received was outstanding. He saw how happy it made his little customers, so he decided to take his talents to children’s hospitals.

After posting a picture of his work on Facebook, Lloyd promised that if the photo got over 50 likes he would paint all the sick kids at Auckland’s Starship Children’s Hospital. Since then, he’s received over 427,000 likes and managed to airbrush numerous children’s patients at Starship. Lloyd was glad to see that his tattoos could cheer up the young ones and bolster their self-esteem.

The generous tattoo artist uses an airbrush, stencils, and non-toxic, water-based India ink to create his body art. Each design takes about nine minutes to complete, and Lloyd allows each child to choose what image they want on their body.

Even though his tats aren’t permanent, parents might find one downside to Lloyd’s artwork.

“The only bad thing is that they don’t want to take a shower afterwards,” Lloyd told Mashable Australia.
