McDonald’s Beloved McRib Sandwich Is Back — But Only at Certain Locations

If you’re a fan of the elusive McDonald’s McRib, get excited: The beloved boneless pork sandwich has officially returned. It will be available in more than 9,000 locations in the United States, according to the legendary burger chain.

McDonald’s first made the official announcement on its website that the sandwich has returned at participating restaurants for a limited time on October 25. The chain also announced that the McRib is available through McDelivery on Uber Eats.

“While McDonald’s has ushered in many new items this year — such as fresh beef in our quarter-pound burgers — we know our fans love this limited-time classic,” said McDonald’s chef Mike Haracz. “That’s why we wanted to bring the McRib to as many fans as possible this year. With the McRib also now available via McDelivery on Uber Eats, we’re excited to make it more accessible to customers with the speed and convenience they expect from McDonald’s.”

Prior to this announcement, the excitement for the McRib’s return had been building all month long. Back on October 4, the official Twitter page for McDonald’s responded to a very relatable tweet from a customer named Brian, who pleaded with the chain, “Bring back the McRib!”

McDonald’s replied: “It’ll be here before you know it, Brian. In the meantime, think of it like your birthday — it’s a once-a-year celebration! :)”

As many fans know, the chain is notoriously mysterious about when — and where — the McRib returns each year. Luckily, eager customers usually have a few clues from previous years that might hint as to when the sandwich will pop up at a McDonald’s near them. No wonder the anticipation was building so much!

When did the McRib come back last year?

As McRib fans may recall from last year, the Twitter page for McDonald’s SoCal — the locations in southern California — made an announcement well ahead of time that McRibs would be available starting November 2, 2017.

Meanwhile, McDonald’s Hawaii informed customers on the islands that they could purchase the McRib sandwich on November 9, 2017.

But as early as Halloween that year, customers had already spotted the McRib in at least eight locations — including New York, Texas, and Oklahoma — according to Business Insider.

Two years ago, the McRib returned around a similar time, on November 7, 2016. But that year, it was reportedly the McDonald’s Association of NEPA (Northeastern Pennsylvania) that shared the first major “McRib is back!” announcement.

Which McDonald’s have the McRib right now?

McDonald’s has made their customers’ lives super easy this year by allowing them to search the McDonald’s Finder app to find participating restaurants offering the limited-time sandwich. Fans can also download the Uber Eats app to locate the nearest participating McDelivery restaurant in their area to get their McRibs even faster.

But as longtime devotees of McDonald’s McRib know, there’s also a McRib locator on the web that keeps track of locations where the meal has been spotted. There’s even a tool where others can “confirm” that the sighting is indeed legitimate. So if you prefer to find your McRib the old way, you can do that as well. We love a good mystery!

As for the McDonald’s Twitter account, the chain acknowledged the ongoing elusiveness about the sandwich in an October 3 tweet — and gave McRib enthusiasts a helpful tip for good measure: “There’s a lot of mystery around why the McRib comes and goes, but to be honest it’s a local option based on consumer demand.”

You heard ’em! If you can’t find a McRib sandwich at your local McDonald’s and want one, it’s time to speak up.
