Migraines become more frequent and painful for women after age 40, studies show, and menopause can also mean you’re more prone to painful headaches. If you’re looking for a cure for your migraines, try these simple steps that have helped others battle the pain.

Wear rose-colored glasses–really. Working under harsh fluorescent lightbulbs can lead to migraines, so talk to your doctor or optometrist about snagging a pair of glasses with lenses tinted with FL-41, a rose-colored hue which can help protect your eyes from pain.
Sip tea before bed. Consistently getting a good night’s sleep can go a long way toward keeping your noggin from hurting. An hour before bed, try sipping linden or passionflower tea for a soothing way to relax.
Add buckwheat to your diet. Buckwheat, apples, and asparagus are all good sources of rutin, a compound that has been proven to lessen pain-triggering brain irritations.

Get your D. Research suggests that getting enough vitamin D reduces your risk for migraine pain. Spend about 15 minutes a day getting direct natural sunlight (wear your SPF!), get it from food sources like fatty fish, cheese, and eggs, and talk to your doctor to see if a vitamin D supplement might be helpful for you.
