Brain cells easily absorb turmeric’s active ingredient, curcumin, where it reduces damaging inflammation, explains study co-author Dave Dexter, Ph.D.

Cut your risk 19 percent with cauliflower. Eating three cups of cauliflower weekly could cut your risk of Parkinson’s disease as much as 19%, suggests research in the journal Annals of Neurology. Cauliflower contains an edible (and safe!) form of nicotine that heightens brain-cell function, the study authors say. Other similarly protective foods include bell peppers and eggplant.
