Supplies Needed: Contact paper, scissors, and flower petals

Time Required: 15 minutes

Instructions: 

  1. Start with clear contact paper and cut it into circles. 
  2. Have the kids gather petals from flowers in your garden or local park: daisies, pansies, tulips, whatever is blooming near you is fair game. 
  3. Using a glue stick, have your little ones arrange the petals on one side of the contact paper to create a beautiful flower design. 
  4. Take another piece of clear contact paper and press it over top to secure both sides together. (Because contact paper is adhesive, all you need to do is press it down — no glue required!) 
  5. Hang it up in a sunny window and enjoy the rainbow of colors created by the light shining through! 

Tin Can Planters 

This crafty spring activity is perfect for older kids who want to get in touch with nature. They’ll love caring for these mini planters all season long. It’s functional, too, taking the place of standard flower pots.

Supplies Needed: Soil, scissors, construction paper, small plants like succulents or herbs, and two to three tin cans (make sure to clean them thoroughly and remove any sharp edges before beginning)

Time Required: 30 minutes

Instructions: 

  1. Decorate each can with construction paper.
  2. Use scissors to make small holes at the bottom of each tin can for drainage. 
  3. Add soil and small plants in each can, then set them on a windowsill or outside in a sunny spot.

Paper Bag Puppets 

Bring stories to life with paper bag puppets! This is a fun activity that encourages storytelling skills and helps to develop fine motor coordination. 

Age Range: Age 3 and up

Supplies Needed: Construction paper, markers, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, and lunch-sized paper bags

Time Required: Five minutes or more

Instructions: 

  1. Draw faces on the bag, then glue on the eyes, nose, and mouth. 
  2. If kids want to get extra creative, encourage them to add accessories like feathers or felt shapes. There’s no limit to how imaginative they can be!
  3. To finish, help little ones twist two pipe cleaners together for antennae. 

Air Dry Clay Hand Prints

Supplies Needed: A package of air dry clay and some water

Instructions: 

  1. Roll clay into a ball, then flatten it onto a piece of wax paper. (Make sure it’s big enough for your kiddo to press their hand into!) 
  2. Help them make an impression in the center using their thumb and four fingers
  3. Guide them as they decorate around the edges of the impression with small shapes and patterns. 
  4. Allow to sit out overnight or until completely dry.

Pom-Pom Ladybugs

Supplies Needed: Red and black pom-poms or cotton balls, one bag of twisty pipe cleaners

Instructions: 

  1. Use black pom-poms as the base for ladybug buddies. To do this, join two pom poms with a piece of pipe cleaner, then twirl pipe cleaner to secure pom poms in place. 
  2. Glue googly eyes onto the heads. They’ll make these little critters come alive! 
  3. To finish, attach four pieces of pipe cleaner to create legs and antennae. 

Egg Carton and Construction Paper Butterfly
