What if we told you that you could help support our military by simply enjoying a delicious glass of vino? Yes, we'd be on board, too! Well, for every bottle of Josh Cellars Lodi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ($18.99, Wine Transit) sold, the brand will donate $1 to Operation Gratitude.
The new Josh Cellars wine was created in partnership with Operation Gratitude to honor our military. With notes of berries and vanilla, this flavorful red will pair with just about any summertime recipe, including burgers, grilled fruit, and savory salads, all the while supporting our troops.
Operation Gratitude is a charity that sends more than 300,000 individually addressed care packages to soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen deployed overseas, and their children left behind. The organization also sends boxes to first responders, new recruits, veterans, wounded heroes, and their caregivers. These heartwarming parcels include snacks, hygiene products, entertainment, handmade items, and personal letters of support.
While these items might seem small to us from the comfort of our homes, they can make a big difference to men and women in the military, especially if they don't usually get anything in the mail. Sometimes, a simple phrase like "thank you" can mean the world to folks serving far away.
Joseph Carr, the founder of Josh Cellars, works with this specific charity to honor the legacy of his father. As he explains on his website: "My dad was a soldier in the U.S. Army and a volunteer firefighter in our hometown, things that influence my life today and the charities we work with every year."
Not much of a wine drinker? You can still lend a hand to Operation Gratitude in other ways if you're interested. Learn more about volunteering and donating here.
