We know protein is good for us, especially as older women. But how do you choose the protein powder that’s best for you? That depends entirely on your goals, but if you’re looking to maintain muscle mass and shed a few pounds, a low-carb protein powder is a great addition to your daily diet.

Whether you’re looking for a new, great-tasting protein to add to your repertoire or simply want a low-carb protein powder, we’re here to help. Learn more about BioTRUST’s Whey Protein Powder and Casein Blend from Grass-Fed, Pasture-Raised Cattle.

What is the best protein powder?

Choosing the protein powder that’s best for you depends on your fitness goals and dietary needs. For example, women over 50 can benefit from a powder packed with protein to help combat changes in the way their body absorbs nutrients. Others who want to lose weight might opt for a lean, low-carb protein option like the one BioTRUST offers.

Increasing your protein intake while cutting 500-700 calories out of your daily diet has been shown to maintain muscle and promote fat loss. It’s easy to fall into a pattern of calorie cutting, but you need the protein to maintain muscle mass plus promote healthy fat loss and lean body mass. BioTRUST is a low-carb protein option that can help meet those goals!

Aside from your personal fitness goals, another important consideration to make when finding the best protein for you is taste and texture. Most of the time, the artificial sweeteners in protein powder give it that unpleasant aftertaste you’ve probably experienced. This doesn’t bother some people, but if it’s not a taste you enjoy, you’ll want a protein powder that doesn’t contain much (or any) artificial sweeteners.

How much protein powder should older women have a day?

When it comes to the recommended daily amount of protein, women over 50 should have .36 grams of protein per pound of body weight. Some research suggests older women can benefit from at least .45 grams per pound. While you can get the daily recommended protein intake from whole foods, adding protein shakes into your daily diet can supplement that protein, especially if you’re on the go or not the best in the kitchen.

BioTRUST’s Low Carb Multi-Protein: why it’s different

Why might women over 50 opt for BioTRUST’s Low Carb Protein Powder?

Women may prefer one protein over another due to flavor, protein per serving, fitness goals and digestibility,” Lourdes Diaz-McAgy of Total Nutrition Technology, a company that develops and manufactures private-label food and nutrition, a billion-dollar industry that continues to grow annually, says. “Several proteins have one kind of protein which includes a higher amino acid profile and other proteins will include several types of protein to allow different timing for digestion. Each protein type has a different digestion rate.”

Whey proteins are typically digested faster and absorb into the bloodstream more immediately than a casein protein, which has a slow digestion rate. “[Many prefer casein protein] prior to bedtime to prevent muscles from breaking down during sleep,” Diaz-McAgy adds. “Milk protein consists of casein and whey therefore the combination will provide both immediate and extended benefits for muscle repair and growth.

So, what makes BioTRUST’s Low Carb Protein Powder different from others like it on the market. “This protein powder is straight forward and provides high protein content with minimal added ingredients while adding fiber for gut health,” Diaz-McAgy explains. “It is not genetically modified, [it contains] no hormones, [is] allergen free, [and has] no artificial flavors which allows the consumer to get exactly what they need without the added fillers.”

Unfortunately, Diaz-McAgy says there are a lot of proteins on the market that contain these added fillers. When this happens, this yields a lower protein content, so you’re not really getting what you’re looking for.

The overall protein in a serving is reviewed by taking the protein serving content yield and dividing by the serving size,” Diaz-McAgy adds. “This determines the amount of protein one will ingest.”

BioTRUST is a blend of whey and casein protein that offers 24 grams per serving. It’s packed with pasture-raised, grass-fed whey protein isolate and concentrate, milk protein concentrate, and micellar casein. It’s also non-GMO and made without hormones, artificial sweeteners or colors. Along with whey isolate, this casein and whey protein combo also includes a ProHyrdolase natural enzymes blend for digestion to promote absorption and support stomach-friendly digestion.

What’s more, BioTRUST protein is made in the USA in a GMP-certified facility and undergoes third-party lab testing to ensure purity, potency and safety. Plus, it comes in several amazing flavors, including Chocolate, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Salted Carmel, Strawberry Banana, Vanilla, and Cafe Mocha.

Why customers choose BioTRUST Protein

With over 400 5-star reviews on Amazon, there are a lot of reasons why customers choose BioTRUST Protein Powder over others on the market. The flavor is a big one!

This is one of the only protein powders I have tried that tastes good enough for me to actually get in the habit of taking it,” says one happy customer. “With other products I have experienced chalky taste, and flavor issues. This one by Bio-Trust is wonderful. Dissolves easily and completely in my smoothies, and is Low-carb. I have been buying it for almost a year, and I believe I get better nutrition from it than health bars I have used. I would highly recommend.”

Taste is 4.7 out of 5 so that is a strong rating for me; vanilla is my favorite but this chocolate is decent,” adds another happy customer. “I’ve also tried their reds and greens and those are also decent tasting. This product is Stevia and swerve sweetened. Easy on the digestive system. Really seems to be a good quality product.”

Another customer who loves the flavor says: “I’m the first to admit I’m EXTREMELY picky about flavor. I won’t just choke something down because it is good for me. I have bought this item directly from BioTrust and I’ve bought it on Amazon. Same amazing product. Normally protein powder taste is too strong. This one is a milder flavor and not as much of an aftertaste (none if I mix it in the right ratio for me). I also love the vanilla flavor in baked goods (banana bread with a scoop or two of this is awesome!).”

Another thing customers love about BioTRUST’s protein is how easily it blends into their shakes. “Great chocolate taste in a high protein powder that blends very smoothly with my morning broccoli, spinach, blueberries, cherry, and flaxseed,” says one buyer.

Still, others love that it’s a low carb protein option. “This protein powder is the best option that I have tried for a low carb option,” says another Amazon customer. “The ingredients are healthy and I love that it come from grass fed & hormone free sources. I get myself through my workouts knowing that I will have my yummy smoothie as a reward when I’m done. Mixes well with most fruits but my fave is blueberry:) Tastes like a blueberry muffin!

This protein powder is also great for “profee,” or protein coffee. “We used it for our coffee and it worked fine without clumping,” yet another customer raves. “We also used it in a smoothie and it gave the other ingredients a boost in flavor. Product is light, in that it doesn’t weigh down the drink or feel thick drinking it.”
