This $3 Hair Mask Brought Angelina Jolie’s Damaged, Dry Locks Back From the Dead
Actors put their hair through a LOT for their art. From bleaching to heat-damage, their strands can really go through the ringer over the course of a film. Take Angelina Jolie, for instance: The Oscar winner’s role as Maleficent in the film of the same name, and its sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, wreaked some serious havoc on her long, brown hair. Luckily, she had a little help in the repair department in the form of Hask hair masks ($2.99, ULTA).
After filming a majority of both films with her tresses tied up under one of seven specially-made magnetic horn headwraps designed for the film, Jolie, 44, was suffering from some serious damage, breakage, and issues with growth.
“We kind of put my hair in [these] little balls and then you put the headpiece over it and pulled the braids through,” Jolie told Vanity Fair of the film-making process.
The fix? Hairstylist Audrey Futterman alternated applications of the HASK Beauty tea tree oil and rosemary hair and scalp treatment with the argan oil repairing deep conditioner morning, noon, and night for an entire month.
The tea tree soothed Jolie’s ravaged scalp and strands while the Moroccan argan oil in the deep conditioner worked to penetrate and repair any split ends, strengthening and hydrating in the process. Even Jolie couldn’t believe the results, with her hair making a complete 180.
She’s not the only one raving over the effectiveness of Hask’s miracle products: A 4.5-star review of the conditioner on ULTA proves it works for us mere mortals, as well.
“My hair was fried from bleaching and dying it,” one happy customer wrote. “Now I can run my fingers through my hair with ease and my hair is way softer.”
Added another: “I’ve tried a ton of different products on my hair, but this is by far my favorite leave in. It’s helped prevent breakage and allowed much faster hair growth as a result.”
While you can apply this conditioner as often as you like, it’s recommended to massage it into damaged areas one to two times a week for 10 minutes at a time.
At just less than $5 per mask, it’s certainly an affordable treatment plan. We, for one, would pay far more to emulate Jolie’s sleek, healthy locks!
