These Genius Shoes Go From Heels to Flats With the Click of a Lever
Our feet are sincerely thankful.
If you’ve headed out in a super cute pair of heels, only to wish you’d worn flats by mid-day, we feel your pain — and so does Mime et Moi. The innovative German shoe company has designed an entire collection of shoes that can be transformed from a block heel or a stiletto into a flat with the click of a lever (from $159, Mime et Moi)!
Launched in 2016 as a kickstarter startup, Mime et Moi took off overseas, where more than 1,500 backers pledged more than $300,000 to get the company up and running, far surpassing the company’s $110,000 goal.
Each pair in the brand’s line, which is now available for international purchase online, comes with an included flat heel (1.1-inch) that can be interchanged with one of seven heel styles when you pull a level to release it (heels, $35 to $50, are sold separately).
By closing the lever and engaging a new heel in the flat one’s place, you’ll essentially have an entirely new pair of shoes at a fraction of the cost of the original. (Watch the video below to see how it works).
The company takes into account that comfort is not one size fits all as far as heels go, so you can choose the interchanging heel’s height (2.75- or 3.93-inches) and style (stiletto, block, and super-block). You can even play with varying fabrics and colors to change a monochrome shoe into a color-block one!
Styles range from classic open-toed sandals, like the pictured N°2 nappa leather kicks ($179) to unique gathered silhouettes, like these Maritima Lino shoes ($199) seen below.
They also have bridal options, like these Lucky Bride bow sandals ($169), which are made of silk and feature an asymmetrical toe strap.
Each pair is made in Spain with fine leathers and goat suede and have a non-slip sole to boot.
It’s official, ladies: Our heel woes are over!
Where to buy: From $159, Mime et Moi
