bmiMD keeps it virtual
bmiMD is a relatively young company with somewhat limited information available online. It was founded in 2023 to provide patients with “convenience, affordability, and accessibility” when seeking prescription weight loss medications. Patients age 18 and up can enroll, as long as they are eligible for GLP-1s (a BMI of 30 or of 27 with co-morbidities). The company currently serves 41 U.S. states, except for Alabama, Arkansas, California, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, and South Carolina. And it’s LegitScript-certified, which means it has received approval as a trustworthy and safe telehealth provider from medical experts nationwide.
To start, you’ll meet with a provider to select a treatment
Enrolling with bmiMD is easy. You’ll start by filling out a confidential questionnaire that will ask about your goals and health history. That same day, you can meet with one of bmiMD’s board-certified physicians and pick a treatment. Blood work is often recommended; however, it is not required. Then, once you receive approval, your medication ships in three to five days from bmiMD’s FDA-approved licensed partner pharmacy. Moving forward, you’ll be able to reach out for ongoing support.
bmiMD offers a few weight loss treatments
bmiMD offers a range of GLP-1–based weight loss treatments designed to provide more affordable alternatives to costly name-brand medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro:
- Compounded semaglutide (the same active ingredient found in Ozempic and Wegovy) is available through their Personalized GLP-1 Program, starting at $233/month, billed quarterly.
- Compounded liraglutide (the active ingredient in Saxenda®) is also available for $249/month.
- Oral GLP-1 options, including semaglutide and a GLP-1 + GIP combination (similar to the dual-action effect of tirzepatide), are offered in dissolvable tablet form, starting at $216/month.
- Name-Brand GLP-1s, but doesn’t support insurance at the moment.(this is coming in the future, according to a brand representative)
Note: Due to updated FDA guidance, compounded tirzepatide is no longer available, and compounded semaglutide is permitted only under certain medical conditions when FDA-approved versions are not suitable for the patient. bmiMD continues to provide compounded semaglutide based on individual needs and clinical discretion.
By focusing on compounded and alternative delivery formats, bmiMD helps reduce costs compared to brand-name GLP-1 medications, which can run over $1,000 per dose without insurance coverage.
bmiMD looks at weight loss holistically
Although changing your daily habits is crucial when taking a GLP-1 for weight loss, it isn’t always enforced. But bmiMD encourages patients to change up their daily routine to get the most out of their medications. In addition to ongoing support, bmiMD provides you with diet tips. It’s important to make sure you’re getting nourishing food that won’t impede on your weight loss journey. bmiMD says it will also soon offer a Health Coach AI tool, which will provide additional guidance for proper nutrition and exercise.

Calling bmiMD isn’t an option
bmiMD does not have an available phone number for current or prospective customers. Therefore, if you’re looking to reach out with questions or concerns, you must send an email or message your provider through your account’s portal.
bmiMD doesn't take insurance
While some telemedicine providers take insurance, bmiMD is different. It does not accept insurance of any kind. The two generic treatments are affordable, and they come with customer support and additional health tools. It also does not accept HSA or FSA plans for out-of-pocket costs.
The prescription cost depends on your treatment
| Treatment Name | Formulation Type | Pricing Structure |
| Personalized GLP-1 | Injectable | $233/month (billed quarterly) or $289/month + $29.99 shipping |
| Compounded Liraglutide | Injectable | $249/month + $29.99 shipping |
| Oral GLP-1+GIP Sublingual Tablets | Oral | $249/month (billed quarterly at $747) or $299/month |
| Oral Semaglutide Sublingual Tablets | Oral | $216/month (billed quarterly at $648) or $249/month |
|
bmiMD Natural Digestive Support Supplement |
Oral supplement | $33/month (billed quarterly at $99.99) or $39/month |
What you pay for bmiMD’s weight loss treatments depends on the type of medication you choose. Injectable compounded semaglutide—formulated with added Vitamin B12—is available through bmiMD’s Personalized Semaglutide Program, which costs $233 per month (billed quarterly) or $289 plus $29.99 shipping if you’re paying month to month. This plan includes once-weekly injections (up to 2.4 mg), individualized dose adjustments, unlimited provider messaging and delivery. It’s also eligible for HSA/FSA reimbursement.
For those who prefer a non-injection option, bmiMD offers oral semaglutide sublingual tablets starting at $216/month (billed quarterly at $648) or $249/month when paid monthly. Oral GLP-1 + GIP tablets start at $249/month (billed quarterly at $747) or $299/month if paid monthly. Both are taken daily.
They also offer compounded liraglutide injections for $249/month plus a one-time $29.99 shipping fee—currently permitted because liraglutide remains on the FDA’s drug shortage list. However, compounded liraglutide is not approved by the FDA, meaning it hasn’t undergone the agency’s standard review for safety, efficacy or manufacturing quality.
Note: While compounded semaglutide is no longer broadly permitted due to FDA restrictions, bmiMD continues to offer it under their personalized program. Compounding is still allowed under certain conditions, such as when a prescriber determines the FDA-approved drug is not suitable for a specific patient. However, the FDA, Eli Lilly, and Novo Nordisk are all cracking down on companies continuing to offer compounded GLP-1s under false pretenses.
Here’s what bmiMD says on their website about compounded medication:
“Physicians may prescribe compounded medications as needed to meet patient requirements. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. The FDA does not review or approve any compounded medications for safety or effectiveness.”
Joining the bmiMD loyalty program can drive down costs
Customers can join the company’s loyalty program, bmiRewards, to drive down costs, getting you up to 30 percent back for each dose. Each bmiReward gives you $1 in savings for future refills, helping you save in the long run. By placing an order through the company’s website, bmiRewards will automatically accumulate. bmiMD makes patients feel supported

And implementing the holistic nutrition tools ensures you’re getting the most from your experience. Although it is completely virtual, bmiMD feels more personal than many online and in-person providers out there.
