Going to a doctor — particularly about potentially starting on a weight loss medication like Ozempic — can be difficult. Many people feel embarrassed to ask for a semaglutide prescription, with the fear of being judged by their provider. But that isn’t always the case, particularly with online pharmacies like Mochi Health. The telehealth provider prescribes and delivers GLP-1s, with a mission to “make patients feel heard and understood.” Co-founder and CEO Dr. Myra Ahmad MD tells Woman’s World she wanted to remove the stigma that patients so often face.

“Traditionally, healthcare has centered on treatment, not prevention,” she says. “We’ve empowered thousands of patients nationwide, shifting the narrative from generic treatments to personalized, holistic care.”

Updated April 2025: We updated this article since publishing in October 2024 to reflect the most recent information about Mochi Health’s GLP-1 program, including pricing, availability and other important details.

Mochi Health offers diet and weight loss programs

Mochi Health doesn’t just make GLP-1 prescriptions accessible, it also ensures you’re taking all the right steps to be successful. For the nutrition and medication plan, patients meet with a provider to determine the best course of action. If you qualify, you may be prescribed a GLP-1, along with testing, labs and scans, to determine the dose and if GLP-1s are right for you. You’ll make any necessary adjustments and check in with your provider, and also check in with a registered dietitian regularly to make sure you’re getting the most out of your treatment.

The nutrition plan without medication, alternatively, just has you meet with a dietitian to discuss your goals and come up with a personalized nutrition plan.

Enrollment takes a few steps

First, you’ll take a few minutes to fill out an eligibility form. This will determine if you’re able to take part in the program. Once you’re verified, you’ll choose a subscription plan that best supports your goals. Finally, you’ll meet with a provider and registered dietician. You’ll determine which medication works for you (if any) as well as a plan to ensure you’re eating right, for the best results.

“After signing up, patients can get an online appointment with a real doctor and dietitian in under a week,” Dr. Ahmad explains. “Our medical team provides tailored treatment plans that empower patients with the guidance and tools they need to achieve lasting results.”

In addition to its regular weight loss program, Mochi Health‘s pediatrics program helps with obesity management in adolescents ages 13 to 17. Pediatric patients with a BMI greater than the 95th percentile can sign up to meet with a provider, make a plan, and possibly start on any necessary medications. Like the regular program, they meet with a registered dietitian, get any necessary lab work done and meet with their provider as needed.

Mochi stays up-to-date on treatments

The GLP-1 industry is constantly expanding, with increased research and demand, so Mochi plans to offer the best possible medications, as treatments arise: “We’re not only built to handle growth but are also inherently adaptable, allowing us to quickly integrate new medications and treatment plans as they emerge,” Dr. Ahmad explains. “We are committed to embracing innovation, ensuring we stay ahead of industry developments while consistently delivering high-quality care.”

Mochi plans to grow its holistic treatments

Through continuous research, the brand hopes to keep growing. In addition to providing the best possible medications, Mochi also wants to continue making holistic additions to its weight loss offerings: “Our goal is to provide comprehensive care that includes fitness, nutrition, mental health, and a range of supportive services, ensuring our patients receive the whole-person care they need to thrive,” Dr. Ahmad says. “We are excited to lead the way in transforming obesity care into a more inclusive and supportive journey for all.”

Customer care is available 24/7

Patients can reach out to customer care any day of the week, and 24 hours per day. The phone number on Mochi’s website connects you with customer service, who can answer questions regarding billing and shipping issues. But you can also receive medical support by sending a message in their patient portal to connect with your provider, who can help with questions regarding side effects, dosage, and more.

“We’ve dedicated significant investment into our vertically integrated platform and robust network of health professionals,” Dr. Ahmad adds. “This strategic approach allows us to provide comprehensive services, including obesity physician consultations, dietitian visits, testing, and 24/7 phone-based customer support. As a result, we’re able to deliver these high-quality services at an exceptionally competitive price point, setting us apart in the healthcare industry.”

Mochi accepts but doesn't require insurance

This content is not a substitute for professional medical advice or diagnosis. Always consult your physician before pursuing any treatment plan.

You can invoice things like membership to your insurance after paying, for reimbursement. However, Mochi doesn’t bill insurance directly. For medication coverage, it depends on your plan, carrier and employer. Mochi has a Medical Assistant team, which acts as a liaison between you and insurance, to ensure they can get your treatment plan approved, however, if it’s included in your plan. But so you don’t have to wait to start medication, Mochi can start you on a compound medication, until it’s approved, which is cheaper than the name-brand medications, anyway. You can also use an HSA or FSA account to pay for your membership, if you have one.

The cost breakdown is straightforward

Plan Type 1-Month Cost 3-Month Cost 6-Month Cost 12-Month Cost What’s Included
Standard Membership $79/month $66/month $66/month $66/month Virtual provider visits, nutrition coaching, 24/7 messaging, prescriptions (if needed), optional testing
Wellness Plus (w/ insurance) $69/month $56/month $49/month $49/month All Standard benefits + advanced nutrition therapy, mental health support, covered by qualifying insurance
Compounded GLP-1 $99 $297 $594 NA Weekly injections; 3- and 6-month options not available in CA, AR, MI, SC
Compounded GLP-1/GIP $199 $597 $1,194 NA Weekly injections; 3- and 6-month options not available in CA, AR, MI, SC

For Mochi’s membership costs, pricing will depend on if you have a qualifying health insurance plan. Without insurance, you get the standard Mochi membership nutrition and medication program which includes virtual provider visits, nutrition coaching, 24/7 messaging, prescriptions and optional testing. The standard membership costs $79 per month (for three it’s $198, for six it’s $396 and for 12 it’s $792).

If you have qualifying private health insurance, you get the Wellness Plus membership that includes all the standard benefits plus advanced nutrition therapy and mental health support. With your insurance premium, this membership costs $69 per month (for three it’s $168, for six it’s $294 and for 12 it’s $588).

Then, there’s the cost of the medication. The compounded GLP-1 protocol is $99 per month and compounded GLP-1/GIP protocol is $199 per month. There aren’t any discounts for paying upfront for three, six, and 12 months, though. Name-brand medications may cost more.

Mochi is one of the more popular GLP-1 providers

Even though GLP-1s shouldn’t be the first thing most people turn to for weight loss, they certainly help, and Mochi Health’s providers and nutritionists, help guide patients though all sorts of different programs. This is a weight loss service that’s makes getting started on your weight loss journey easy and affordable.
