Mom of Three Tries for Another Baby, Finds Out She’s Expecting Six

Tags:

An Alabama couple had been trying to give their three sons a sibling after suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage back in January. So the mom and dad decided to try fertility medication, and they found out just weeks later that not only was the mother expecting again, she was expecting six babies.

“It was the shock of our lives,” Courtney Waldrop said.

But she and her husband Eric, who have been a couple since middle school, said their faith in God took over after they heard all six fetal heartbeats.

“We turned it over to God and we realized he was going to get us through it,” Eric said.

Courtney is now 13 weeks along, and doctors are hoping that the babies make it to 28 weeks gestation before they’re born. Courtney is due to deliver at Huntsville Hospital, which has never delivered sextuplets before.

“The risks are crazy,” Courtney said. “They are monitoring me closely, taking good care of me.”

The family, who already has an 8-year-old son and two 5-year-old twin boys, will be hosting a gender reveal party and a fundraiser on Aug. 26 at a local park. There’s no cost to register, but any donations will go toward the future sextuplets.

In the meantime, as she prepares to give birth, Courtney has set up a Facebook page called “God’s Divine Nine-Miracles in the Making – Waldrop Sextuplets” to keep the community updated on the whirlwind experience.
