Brazilian ‘Mounjaro’ Drink Helped One Woman Lose 103 Lbs—Here’s How It Works
This viral 'Brazilian Mounjaro' drink is transforming weight loss—we've got the recipe
We’ve all heard of the prescription drug Mounjaro and how it helps people lose weight. But the latest diet trend is not a shot. It is a much cheaper and all-natural drink that goes by the nickname: Brazilian ‘Mounjaro.’ Here, we explain why it helps women lose weight, how to make it yourself at home and how it helped Deidra lose 103 pounds!
What is the Brazilian ‘Mounjaro’ drink?
This all-natural drink borrows its name from the Rx GLP-1 weight-loss drug known to suppress appetite. And experts say this drink can deliver its own weight-loss results, thanks to its star ingredient: apple cider vinegar.
The star ingredient behind Brazilian Mounjaro: vinegar!
“TikTok talks a lot about apple cider vinegar [ACV], and it has medical support behind it,” confirms Cornell-trained nutrition expert Amy Shah, MD. “I recommend adding it to a salad dressing at the beginning of your meal or drinking it diluted in a cup of water—you don’t want to drink it by itself, because it can be harsh on your teeth and throat.”
Apple cider vinegar for weight loss: the science
Ingesting 1 Tbs. of vinegar each day is proven to cut cravings and boost satiety by 144 percent, according to research reported in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition. That’s not all. Acetic acid found in the liquid helps slow the rate that digestive enzymes break down starches into glucose, minimizing fat-storing insulin spikes by around 20 percent.
Another study found that people who drank apple cider vinegar shed 3,539 percent more body fat than those who didn’t consume the ingredient. In addition, a study in the Journal of Functional Foods shows that participants who consumed 2 Tbs. of ACV daily for 12 weeks lost a significant amount of weight compared to those who didn’t add the vinegar to their daily routine.
How lemon and ginger boost slimming results
Two other main ingredients in Brazilian Mounjaro—lemon juice and ginger—are no slimming slouches themselves. First up: lemon juice. Dietitian Erin Palinski-Wade, RD, author of 2-Day Diabetes Diet, explains, “The nice thing about lemon is that it makes beverages more satisfying, and that tart taste can also help with appetite regulation.”
As for ginger, it’s a top anti-inflammatory food choice. That’s helpful during weight loss, since “when you have chronic inflammation, your body releases stress hormones that prod the body to store fat,” she explains. “Ginger also aids digestion and can reduce bloat. While that’s not the same as losing weight, it does help your pants fit better, which is what we all really want!”
How Brazilian ‘Mounjaro’ compares to Rx Mounjaro
This DIY drink mix isn’t going to give you results like powerful GLP-1 medications, notes Palinski-Wade. “But it will fill your stomach with low-calorie liquid, which helps with portion control. Plus, research suggests that ACV can boost metabolism and make us feel more satisfied before and during meals,” she reveals. “It also helps balance blood sugar levels, leading to fewer cravings.”
How to boost the benefits of Brazilian Mounjaro
A few swaps make this all-natural drink even more slimming. Here, three tweaks that are Palinksi-Wade-approved…
Use stevia in place of honey
Many Brazilian Mounjaro recipes online are sweetened with honey, which the body still recognizes as sugar. To get the sweet fix without the added calories, try using a plant-based sugar dupe like stevia instead.
Stir in these seeds
Plenty of weight-loss recipes online celebrate the benefits of chia seeds. They are a rich source of dietary fiber, which can make us feel satisfied while slowing digestion, almost like GLP-1 medication would, she notes. “For a slightly thicker drink, soak 1 Tbs. of chia seeds in a bit of water for about 15 minutes, then stir the seeds into the beverage.”
Use a brew in place of plain water
Palinksi-Wade recommends using green tea as the liquid base for this drink (in place of water) once in a while. Why? The tea is rich in appetite-suppressing compounds known as catechins.
“I think of apple cider vinegar like a bodyguard to protect me during my intermittent fasting window.” –Deidra Smith
Brazilian Mounjaro success story: Deirda lost 103 pounds!
Too much fast food led Deidra Smith, 39, to reach 258 pounds. Being told she needed blood-pressure medicine served as a wake-up call. But after each weight-loss try, “the pounds came back—times 10!”
Then one night, she discovered a YouTube video claiming apple cider vinegar could crush cravings. So she began drinking 2 Tbs. of the stuff three times daily. She experimented, diluting the liquid and adding ginger, cinnamon, lemon and cayenne pepper to her recipe. “It took my appetite away—totally demolished my desire for sweets. I no longer craved ice cream.”
More than that, Deidra noticed, “It helped me level insulin so I could lose weight.” She shed 25 pounds the first month and 96 pounds after 9 months. “I started to have a waist. It popped out!” As she lost weight, she was even able to get off the blood-pressure meds.
Deidra went from a clothing size of 24W to 6!
Diluted apple cider vinegar shots helped control Deidra’s appetite, making it easy for her to practice intermittent fasting (IF). Each day, she enjoyed two satisfying meals between 10 am and 6 pm—feasts like curry shrimp and mixed veggies with white rice. In all, the mom of two slimmed from a size 24W to 6. “The combination of ACV and IF is simple and sustainable. It makes it so much easier for you to be successful,” she raves. “I think of ACV like a bodyguard to protect me during my fasting window.”
Now Deidra teaches other women to use this apple cider vinegar drink too
These days, this Florida mom is a health coach who has a weight-loss community on Facebook called The DeeHive, with more than 5,000 people who have tried apple cider vinegar.
“Over the years, I’ve done extensive research and have witnessed the incredible results ACV can deliver. I’ve seen women lose weight naturally and sustainably.” She adds, “I believe in it—not because of trends, but because of the results I’ve seen firsthand!”
Recipe: How to make the Brazilian Mounjaro drink at home
Ingredients:
1 Tbs. apple cider vinegar
Juice of 1⁄2 lemon
1⁄2 tsp. grated ginger
Honey (to taste)
Directions: Combine ingredients in a glass. Fill with warm water, stir and then sip. Consider drinking it with a straw to protect your tooth enamel from the acetic acid in the apple cider vinegar. Drink it in the morning, ideally on an empty stomach. Serves 1
How to add slimming apple cider vinegar to meals
Not interested in sipping apple cider vinegar? Instead, hide it in meals. The key is pairing it with a “vehicle”—a healthy fiber-rich or protein-packed meal including foods like leafy green veggies, oatmeal, eggs and lean meat. This will enhance gut health and steady blood-sugar levels.
• At breakfast: Stir 1 Tbs. of ACV in water and add oats. Cover and let soak overnight. Then enjoy the oatmeal topped with berries. The fiber steadies blood sugar.
• For lunch: Use as a salad dressing. Sprinkle greens with ACV and olive oil. The acetic acid and healthy fat in the dressing will tame afternoon cravings.
• During dinner: Marinating red meat in apple cider vinegar to tenderize it—and infuse it with mouth-watering flavor.
