Life doesn’t always go according to plan—and that’s okay. You set out with the best intentions to cook nutritious meals at home, but between work, family and everything else on your plate, sometimes you need a quick, convenient option. And if that means a stop at Chick-fil-A? You don’t have to feel guilty about it. With the right choices, fast food can actually support your wellness goals, not sabotage them. We asked a doctor and dietitians to share their go-to Chick-fil-A orders—the ones they actually recommend to friends and family when life gets hectic.

Why Chick-fil-A can fit into a healthy lifestyle

“As a surgeon, I’m constantly looking at health from a holistic perspective, and that includes how we fuel our bodies when life gets moving fast,” says Brandon Richland, MD, board-certified plastic surgeon and a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. “I’m a big believer that a healthy diet isn’t about perfection—It’s about making the best possible choice in the environment you’re currently in. For people who are constantly on the go or don’t have the bandwidth to meal prep every Sunday, places like Chick-fil-A can absolutely fit into a balanced lifestyle.”

Dr. Richland adds that Chick-fil-A stands out among fast-food chains.

When life gets hectic, how often do you rely on fast food?

“Chick-fil-A is actually one of the better options in the quick-service world because they offer real transparency with their ingredients and have a solid variety of grilled proteins,” adds Dr. Richland.

The 6 healthiest Chick-fil-A choices

These options allow you to enjoy the convenience of Chick-fil-A while making choices your body will thank you for.

Grilled Nuggets

Dr. Richland and Yvette Hill, RDN, IBCLC, Women’s Health & Lifestyle Medicine Dietitian both recommend the grilled chicken nuggets.

The grilled chicken nuggets are a great source of protein, and they are prepared in a more ideal way than fried or breaded,” says Hill.

Macro count: 25 grams of protein, 1 gram of carbs and 3 grams of fat

Kale Crunch Salad

The Kale Crunch salad is made with dark leafy green vegetables,” says Hill. “These vegetables are a good source of nutrients such as vitamin K, folate, fiber and iron. Leafy greens can fight free radical damage in the body and lower the risk of diseases.”

I’d recommend ordering [the grilled nuggets] with a side of Kale Crunch instead of fries to get those leafy greens and healthy fats from the almonds,” says Dr. Richland.

Macro count: 4 grams of protein, 13 grams of carbs and 12 grams of fat

Egg White Grill

For breakfast, the Egg White Grill is a standout,” says Dr. Richland. “It’s a great way to start the day with lean protein rather than a sugar-heavy pastry or greasy biscuit.”

Macro count: 27 grams of protein, 29 grams of carbs and 8 grams of fat

Chick-fil-A Cool Wrap

“The Cool Wrap is another solid choice, especially if you’re eating while driving,” says Dr. Richland. “It has a massive amount of fiber. The carb count is higher, but because of that fiber, it won’t spike your insulin as aggressively. I recommend using half the dressing packet to keep the hidden calories down.”

Macro count: 43 grams of protein, 32 grams of carbs and 45 grams of fat

Fruit Cup

“Fruits are high in antioxidants, which support health,” says Hill. “This cup comes with apples, oranges, blueberries and strawberries. This combination of fruits is not only a good source of antioxidants, but also provides vitamin C and fiber.”

Macro count: 1 gram of protein, 16 grams of carbs and 0 grams of fat

Berry Parfait

“The [Berry Parfait] is a decent healthier dessert or snack,” says Dr. Richland. “ I’d treat this as a true treat rather than a daily staple. If you choose the harvest nut granola over the cookie crumbs, you get a bit more sustained energy.”

Macro count: 13 grams of protein, 35 grams of carbs and 9 grams of fat

The bottom line on Chick-fil-A’s healthy menu

Here’s the truth: Healthy eating isn’t about perfection—it’s about making the best choice you can in any given moment. Whether you’re meal prepping on Sunday or grabbing Chick-fil-A on a hectic Wednesday, by making smart choices you’re around food you’re taking care of yourself one bite at a time.
