We’re Obsessed With Whoopi Goldberg’s New Size-Inclusive Fashion Collection
Two years ago, Whoopi Goldberg took a vacation to Greece. It was her first trip in years, but instead of relishing in it, she found herself feeling insecure about her body because she couldn’t find any fun holiday clothes that fit her. But the iconic actress and host of The View didn’t wallow, she turned her trial into a triumph and created DUBGEE, a size-inclusive clothing collection that helps women feel stylish and great about their bodies.
The DUBGEE (like Whoopi’s initials, WG) collection, which launched this week, is meant to be creative and push style boundaries, but it also emphasizes the idea of “everyday ease.” Each piece feels unique, but also like you can wear it time and time again. “You can put it on today, tomorrow, and the day after — and as long as you wear deodorant, it’s everyday ease,” jokes Whoopi.
You can just tell that she had a blast creating the line, which boasts 41 styles, including flowing tops, jogger pants, and quirky graphic tees. They come in extra small to 3X sizes, with prices ranging from $89 to $390. We especially love the striped tunic ($142-158, Amazon) and the pink sweatshirt that reads, “I am the American Dream.” ($78, Amazon)
While creating the collection, Whoopi says she was inspired by the intricacy and fun design of Russian propaganda prints. “With DUBGEE, I wanted to create the American version of those prints incorporating American elements like baseball, eagles, cowgirls, etcetera.”
But what was most important to Whoopi, unlike in many other fashion collections, was that it included extended sizing. “Because one tends to go up and down and sideways, and I always want something to wear from DUBGEE,” she explains. “I hope that everyone realizes that they have their own fashion style and exploring that can be fun.”
Currently, Amazon offers some styles from the collection. It is also available for purchase online and in-store at Ashley Stewart, Neiman Marcus, and Le Tote (an exclusive subscription retailer). Later this fall, it will be available at Macy’s.
Now, we just want to know what the deal is with those shoe covers?
