This Simple Broken Nail Hack Will Save You a Trip to the Salon

If you’ve ever broken a nail and ruined a great manicure, don’t worry, we’ve been there, too. Not only are broken nails annoying and uncomfortable, but they’re also unsightly. If you like to look polished, well, that’s a drag. Luckily, we recently stumbled on a super simple hack for broken nails that you can do at home all by yourself — all you need is a coffee filter.

The hack is really easy. The best part is, you can use it if you’ve cracked your nail really deeply, and it will protect the nail from breaking any further and causing more pain or discomfort! You can also use this hack if you’ve broken the edge of your nail off to give the appearance that it’s even with the rest of your nails. What’s not to love?

To use this broken nail hack, grab a coffee filter, a nail clipper, and some clear polish or nail glue (nail glue works best). Trim a piece of the coffee filter so that fits over your nail, covering the broken part up to the tip of your nail. Apply the clear polish or nail glue generously onto the coffee filter and cover your nail with it. Use a tweezer (or another nail tool) to press the coffee filter onto your nail and allow it to dry. Use the nail clipper to trim off any extra coffee filter that is hanging off your nail. Finally, paint a clear coat of nail polish over the filter to seal it and allow it to dry. Paint your nails as you normally would, and voilá — no one will know the difference!
