The Best Trader Joe’s Beauty Dupes of Popular, High-End Beauty Products
From body butter to hand cream to sunscreen, Trader Joes has you covered with affordable and effective skin care options
You may have heard of drugstore dupes, but we’re here for grocery store dupes. The dupes trend is all about finding affordable alternatives to some of the most raved about but more expensive beauty products, and we’re all for it. And one of the best places to find the most affordable dupes is right at the grocery store, and more specifically, Trader Joe’s (if it makes grocery shopping more enjoyable, count us in). The beloved grocery chain has been going viral for their skin care, hair and body products for not just their low cost, but also their high-quality ingredients and formulas that compare to many high-end, pricer products. Keep reading to see the best Trader Joe’s beauty dupes to pick up on your next shopping trip that will save you a lot of money.
Are Trader Joe’s beauty products good?
There’s no black-and-white answer to if any one brand is inherently “good” or “bad” when it comes to skin care and beauty products. The answer largely lies in your specific skin type, what your skin does and doesn’t tolerate and the skin concerns you’re looking to address. Overall, though, Trader Joe’s does have a great reputation of having high-quality beauty products that work well.
In fact, many of Trader Joe’s beauty products are recommended by dermatologists all over. Pooja Rambhia, MD, board-certified dermatologist in New York City, says, “I would recommend certain products from the Trader Joe’s skincare and beauty line. They are very budget-friendly and easily accessible to consumers, in addition to containing high-quality ingredients.”
That said, however, they don’t have the widest selection of products compared to other beauty brands, Dr. Rambhia advises. “However, the line is overall limited and does not contain products for all skin types.”
Even more, it’s hard to beat the affordable prices of Trader Joe’s beauty products. Most cost less than $10, with many around the $5-$6 mark — a steal! And if you’re worried the low cost means lower-quality product, Dr. Rambhia says it’s no reason for concern: “While more expensive skincare products might suggest better ingredients, formulations and manufacturing standards, price doesn’t always equal quality. Luxury skincare brands often spend heavily on marketing and glamorous packaging, which increases their costs but doesn’t necessarily improve the product’s effectiveness.” Hence why we love dupes so much!

Trader Joe’s Vanilla Lip Mask: Dupe for Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
Starting off strong, we have a dupe for the cult-favorite Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask that has gone viral multiple times for its ability to deeply moisturize lips (and comes in amazing scents). As much as we like it, it’s quite pricey: $24 for just one mask. Thankfully, Trader Joe’s came out with their own version, Trader Joe’s Vanilla Lip Mask, that costs just $5.99. It’s gone viral on TikTok for being a dupe of the Laneige favorite, and reviewers love how lips feel while wearing it.
Some say that the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is a bit thicker and stickier than the Trader Joe’s Vanilla Lip Mask, but that they look the exact same.

Trader Joe’s Daily Facial Sunscreen SPF 40: Dupe for Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen
If you’ve been on social media at all in the past few years, you’ve probably seen the wildly popular Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen. The SPF is beloved for its natural finish, lightweight finish and its ability to also be used as a primer before makeup. The only caveat is it costs $38 for 1.7 oz., and if you wear sunscreen everyday, you’re going to have to restock often which is unrealistic with its price tag. Thankfully, the Trader Joe’s Daily Facial Sunscreen is a close dupe, and costs just $8.99 for the same amount of product. Both options have a non-greasy finish, no white cast and are unscented.

Trader Joe’s Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream: Dupe for L’Occitane Nourishing and Protective Hand Cream
L’Occitane is known for their rich, moisturizing hand creams that you can easily toss in your bag and carry on the go. Instead, try Trader Joe’s Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream, $4.99, an impressive dupe to L’Occitane Nourishing and Protective Hand Cream. Both contain shea butter, a superhero ingredient when it comes to nourishing and hydrating hands. They even come in similar, easy-to-carry packaging.

Facial oils have been having a major moment lately, and for good reason — especially marula oil. Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil is raved about by beauty influencers and skin care gurus for how moisturizing and glowing it leaves skin. But for $69, we understand why you’d be hesitant to buy it. Luckily, you don’t need to. Rather, you can try Trader Joe’s Marula Facial Oil for just $6.99.
