Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially married. While we don’t yet know where they’ll honeymoon, it’s safe to assume it will be somewhere private on the ocean—perfect for the singer to stretch out with a good book. That’s right: Taylor is a lover of literature! Below we share what she loves about reading and which books are among her favorites.
Why Taylor Swift loves reading
Over the course of her career, Taylor has name-checked Shakespeare, Aristotle and other writers in her lyrics. She has also repeatedly called herself an English teacher—and once revealed that’s the career she likely would have had if singing didn’t work out.
Then, in 2025, during an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Taylor revealed that yes—she does read, but that she prefers audiobooks with a very specific vibe.
“So if you’ve got an old, like, rambling, shambles old British mansion covered in moss or ivy and there’s like a mysterious relationship, and he may not be what he seems,” Taylor said. “And there’s like a murder that has happened in the past, but you hear whispers of it. There’s the idea of a ghost or an actual ghost. If you present me with a plot line where there’s, like, a family compound on an island off the coast of Maine, there are secrets in this family. This brother—why don’t we know where he’s been for 10 years? Why did he just show up?”
“If there is a marriage and the marriage isn’t what it seems, and it seems like this dude is clearly like—why are you with him? He’s horrible to you. Oh, plot twist, unreliable narrator, she is the psycho,” she continued. “If you got any of that, I’m gonna need to read that, and when I say read that, I’m gonna need someone to read that to me.”
As for how much she reads, the singer told Colbert she reads “constantly.”
“It’s always a different one,” she said. “As soon as I finish one, I’ll start a new one.” (We here at Woman’s World can definitely relate!)
Taylor Swift’s favorite books
From mysteries to science fiction, here are Taylor Swift’s favorite books. Spoiler alert: Some of them fall into her description above, and some don’t—but they’re all great reads!
‘The Fault in Our Stars’ by John Green

This heartwrenching novel begins with Hazel Grace Lancaster, a sharp, quirky 16-year-old who’s been living with terminal cancer for three years, meeting the charming and handsome Augustus Waters at a support group for teens with cancer. As they grow closer, they fall in love and connect over Hazel’s favorite novel about the disease. But when Hazel can’t accept the book’s unresolved ending, she and Augustus set out for Amsterdam to track down the author and finally learn what happens to the characters.
What Taylor says: “I loved Hazel Grace because I think she’s so smart and sarcastic and self-aware and I think that just from the book being written from her perspective and it’s told so beautifully. I think that John Green did a really great job of painting a really, really intricate, beautiful, complicated female character.”
What readers are saying: “Without giving away too much about this novel, I’ll just say that this book is very much about being a teen and dealing with cancer, in addition to dealing with the other challenges healthy teens face. It’s about making the most out of the circumstances you’ve been forced to deal with. It’s about love, life and death, and the delivery is just so well done.”
‘The Hunger Games’ by Suzanne Collins

This dystopian novel is set in the world of Panem, where a competition called the Hunger Games occurs every year. The contest involves 24 “tributes”—a boy and a girl from all 12 districts—fighting to the death in an arena on live TV. In the novel, the tributes include Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, two long-lost friends who must fight their enemies and their feelings for one another to survive. A page-turning tale that will leave readers needing to know what happens next. (Good thing there are two more books in the series, as well as two prequels!)
What Taylor says: “After reading all the Hunger Games books I was so sad that they were over, like I wanted to read them over and over again.”
What readers are saying: “The Hunger Games is one of those rare books that strikes a deep chord in people’s souls. It’s a beautifully (if oddly) written story with a brilliant heroine.”
‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ by Harper Lee

In this powerful coming-of-age story, young Scout Finch navigates life in Depression-era Maycomb, Alabama—a small town where racial tensions run deep. When her father, attorney Atticus Finch, bravely defends Tom Robinson, a Black man wrongly accused of assaulting a white woman, Scout’s world transforms. Through her father’s courageous stand for justice, she discovers profound truths about morality, compassion and what it truly means to do the right thing.
What Taylor says: “There was a book called To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee that really changed the way I looked at life.”
What readers are saying: “I finally got around to reading To Kill a Mockingbird, and now I understand why so many people consider it a classic. It’s one of those books that draws you in quietly and then stays in your mind long after you’re finished.”
‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ by Delia Owens

Delia Owens’ #1 New York Times bestseller transports readers to the wild marshlands of North Carolina, where abandoned young Kya has raised herself against all odds. Growing up alone in the wetlands, she becomes known as the “Marsh Girl”—a local legend who keeps the townspeople of Barkley Cove at a distance. When two young men break through her isolation and draw her into their world, Kya experiences connection for the first time. But when one of them is found dead, all eyes turn to the girl from the marsh. As investigators close in and the trial begins, long-buried secrets threaten to surface from the murky depths where Kya has always found refuge.
What Taylor says: “Where the Crawdads Sing is a book I got absolutely lost in when I read it years ago.”
What readers are saying: “This is a deeply engaging novel with vivid storytelling and strong emotional depth. The writing beautifully captures setting, character development and mystery in a way that keeps the reader invested throughout the entire book. It blends suspense and emotion in a very compelling way. Overall, it’s a powerful and memorable read that leaves a lasting impression.”
‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ by J.K. Rowling

Travel to the magical Wizarding World within the pages of this novel. After his 11th birthday, Harry Potter receives a letter telling him that he’s been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Confused, as he grew up in the Muggle—or human—world, Harry doesn’t believe it at first, but he settles in at the school and, as time goes on, he makes friends with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, who are wizards and witches as well, and soon, chaos ensues.
What Taylor says: “It’s so good and everybody loves it so you don’t say it as much. It provides a source of comfort and nostalgia. You don’t think about how many kids have legitimately grown up with the Harry Potter series.”
What readers are saying: “This book definitely deserves all the praise it has garnered, and more. I know that I will want to read it many more times in the future! And of course, I will also want to watch the movie just as many times!”
