4-Year-Old Girl Carries a Photo of Dolly Parton Everywhere She Goes—And Now She’s Going Viral
Why one little girl looks up to Dolly Parton and how she keeps the country superstar close to her heart
Dolly Parton is everywhere — especially in this little girl’s life. Four-year-old Hallie has her own unique way of keeping Dolly Parton with her everywhere and it all started with a photo. Now, Hallie is going viral on TikTok for her love of Dolly.
It all started when Darian Day, mother of Hallie, shared a video explaining that her daughter carries a picture of Dolly Parton in her pocket every single day. But one day, she had to get creative.
“A couple of months ago, Hallie was having an ’emotional day,’ as she calls it, and she was crying because she wanted the real, actual Dolly Parton to be able to come to the store with us,” Day explained.
Day decided to cut out a photo of Dolly for her daughter to put in her pocket to bring everywhere she went. And when Hallie had no pockets in her clothes, Day got even more creative and decided to tape it to her daughter’s shirt.
“I had the idea to cut out a picture from the sleeve of one of our books so Dolly could go with us,” Day shared. “Since then, it’s turned into me printing out multiple little pictures of Dolly for her to carry in her pocket or in her purse. It’s not rare to look around our house and see a little Dolly in every room now.”
Dolly Parton is a staple at the Day household
But the love for Dolly doesn’t end with the youngest daughter. Day says that her entire family enjoys the singer’s music, as well as the Imagination Library that Parton has set up. Day initially signed her oldest child up to receive a book from the foundation when he was a baby, and the tradition continued on from there.
“We are definitely Dolly fans!” she said. “The charitable work she does and the love she has for children are inspiring and impactful… When they’d [the books] come in the mail, we’d say, ‘Look, we have another book from Dolly!’”
Day shared that her older children initially assumed that Dolly was a friend of the family after receiving books from her, something she never shared wasn’t true. But considering how close the singer has brought them, Day is okay with that thought.
And once Hallie was born, Dolly Parton became a staple in the Day household. She not only fell in love with the books from Dolly, but she began to enjoy her hit music, especially, “Coat of Many Colors.” Dolly has brought this family together in more ways than one.
“From snuggling up together to read one of her books or having dance parties in our kitchen to her music, she brings us together in a way only she could,” says Day. “She’s part of our family.”
