Sabrina Carpenter & Dolly Parton Team Up on ‘Please Please Please’—Watch the Video!
The country icon and pop princess are the collab we didn’t know we needed!
Sabrina Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” was the song of the summer, and today, the 25-year-old popstar has done it again with a collab we never saw coming. Today, February 14, marked the release of the blonde superstar’s deluxe edition of her hit album, Short n’ Sweet. In addition to brand-new songs like “15 Minutes,” “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder,” “Busy Woman,” and “Bad Reviews,” Carpenter joined forces with none other than country music icon Dolly Parton for a joint rendition of Carpenter’s hit song, “Please Please Please.”
While the combination of these two iconic voices in the music industry is smooth as butter, the accompanying music video that Carpenter released alongside the 79-year-old songstress had our jaws on the floor! In the original music video, Carpenter starred alongside her then-boyfriend, Irish actor Barry Keoghan. The video begins with the blonde singer being bailed out of jail, only to catch the eye of Keoghan, who is being brought in. As the video goes on and her beau is released, she comes to discover his shady entanglements. The video, paired with the lyrics, paints a clear picture.

“Please, please, please don’t prove I’m right/And please, please, please/Don’t bring me to tears when I just did my makeup so nice/Heartbreak is one thing, my ego’s another/I beg you, don’t embarrass me, m—, oh/Please, please, please,” Carpenter sang. That said, his reputation precedes the male she’s singing about, and she begs him to prove her wrong.

Though the video broke the internet and Sabrina and Barry were the it-couple of 2024, the duo have since called it quits—and in a new music video for her collab on the track with Dolly Parton, Carpenter reveals a different ending for her music video co-star.
“Dolly and me singing in a pickup truck!!!!!!,” Carpenter wrote on Instagram in a post promoting the music video. “I am so honored to have one of my biggest idols on a song that means so much to me.” In the new version, which has a little bit of country twang, Dolly and Sabrina are dolled up in a pickup truck singing and laughing side by side. As it goes on, however, we discover none other than the man from the original video tied up in the bed of the truck.
While the alleged jab at Sabrina’s ex sure got people talking, it was really her teaming up with an icon like Parton that was the most thrilling part. “Dolly is totally the grown-up version of Sabrina,” wrote an Instagram user on Sabrina’s post sharing the video. “This song was so Dolly coded she couldn’t resist,” said another. “I gasped when this duo suddenly appeared on my screen,” another user commented.
And the music video isn’t all that Sabrina has shared! The singer even gave fans an adorable behind-the-scenes TikTok video of her and Parton, lip-syncing to a sound bit of Wendy Williams saying, “She’s an icon. She’s a legend and she is the moment. Now come on now!” And we couldn’t agree more!
