Dolly Parton comes from an extremely large family, the singer being one of 12 children. Though David kept out of the limelight, he is still remembered fondly by his family. According to a separate post shared to X by his sister Stella, David was known to many as “sweet David” due to his “kindness, loyalty and soft spoken demeanor.” Additionally, he served as a US Marine, spending part of his life fighting for our country.

According to his obituary, the resident of White Pine, Tennessee previously worked as a bridge builder superintendent for a company called Simpson Construction. His work allowed him to work on countless bridges in areas like Kingsport, Johnson City and Knoxville before his retirement.

Although David Parton stayed out of the limelight, Dolly has never been one to shy away from talking about her siblings and family and just how important they all are to each and every aspect of her life and career. “Family is everything to me and not just as a loving memory,” she told The Guardian

“My family will always be my greatest love. Sometimes it gets lost in the shuffle but there’s an element of family in everything I do. My music is shaped by my family. My theme park, Dollywood, and my show Dixie Stampede are about giving families an opportunity to be together and have fun. And while the Imagination Library, which is designed to promote early childhood literacy, is all about inspiring a love of reading, it is just as much about being together with your kids.”
