How Dolly and Rachel’s Home Chef partnership came about
Cooking runs deep in the Parton family as Rachel reflects on techniques she learned early on that made her the home cook she is today. “My mama taught us there’s a right way to clean and care for your [cast] iron skillets and that is something that’s always stuck with us over the years,” she says. “I’ve also learned over time that it really does help to always follow a recipe, even when you think you have it memorized..just to ensure that your dish always turns out exactly the same each time.”
These tips served as inspiration for Rachel and Dolly sharing their prized family recipes, both through their cookbook and Home Chef collaboration. “They make meal prep so easy, and with the release of our cookbook, we loved the idea of making it even simpler for people to enjoy our Good Lookin’ Cookin’ recipes at home,” she adds. “So, we were honored when Home Chef approached us about featuring a few of our recipes in their convenient meal kit format. It’s been such a fun partnership, and we couldn’t be happier to share our family recipes in this way!”
The process behind selecting recipes for their line of meal kits
Rachel admits that her and sister found it a little challenging to select recipes for these meal kits as “each one holds a special place in our hearts.” Luckily, she notes that Home Chef’s culinary team provided guidance on featuring a variety of recipes so there’s something for everyone. “Home Chef suggested a few recipes they thought would be great to include, and Dolly and I shared some of our own favorites,” she says. “We really wanted to focus on preserving the authenticity of our recipes from Good Lookin’ Cookin’ and were able to do that with Home Chef’s dedication to providing delicious recipes in an easy-to-use format.”
Once the recipes were selected, they were adjusted so they could be prepared with 10 ingredients or less and still deliver on delicious flavors. “Truly, anyone can make them. That really resonated with us because we’ve always believed that cooking doesn’t need to be difficult — it should be fun!” Rachel says. Shira Schwarz, vice president of brand marketing for Home Chef, also shares the company’s excitement around this opportunity by saying they “can’t even begin to express how excited we are to partner with these pop culture icons.”
