Supporting Team Grape (over Cherry and Orange) in the Popsicle Flavor Feud, Simpson recently dropped the song “Queen of the Pack” for Grape fans, but she’s also been busy getting back on stage and creating new music.
Woman’s World had the opportunity to chat with Ashlee Simpson to find out what fans can expect in terms of that music, whether she would collaborate with her sister, Jessica Simpson and all about her Popsicle partnership.
Woman’s World: You recently completed a residency in Vegas—what was it like to get back on stage and perform for screaming fans again?
Ashlee Simpson: It’s been so much fun. Honestly, it’s been amazing to get back to performing and doing music. Right now, I’m home and in the studio writing, so I have new songs to perform as well. But it’s been an amazing feeling, and it’s also that nostalgic feeling. Visiting that and also visiting where I’m at in my life is super fun with music and writing right now.
WW: You got to perform some of your throwback hits during the residency. Are there any of your own songs—old or new—or even covers that you love to perform?

Ashlee Simpson: Oh gosh! I’m excited to start doing new material as well, but also playing songs that my fans who have been with me for a long time know. “Pieces of Me” is always one that’s so fun to hear everyone singing. I think that will always be a favorite to perform, just to feel that energy and hear everyone singing.
WW: You mentioned that you’re in the studio working on new music. Is there anything you can tease about that right now?
Ashlee Simpson: Not yet. I’m in the studio writing, and it’ll be out next year, but I’m very excited about it. I’m having a fun time. Right now, you just have my grape popsicle jingle.
WW: It’s the perfect teaser for what’s to come. And would you ever consider getting back into acting again or is music where your heart is at right now?
Ashlee Simpson: I love acting. It’s something I would always go back to, and I love theater, and that’s something I would do in the future as well. But right now I’m focusing on the album.
WW: Both you and your sister [Jessica Simpson] are musical icons. Would you ever consider teaming up together for music?
Ashlee Simpson: Definitely. 100%. We’ve always said that we would, we just haven’t come to that moment yet but we need to. Maybe on this album. I’m going to [see] her today. I’m going to tell her.
WW: Can you share a little bit about your partnership with Popsicle and why you decided to work with them?

Ashlee Simpson: I thought this was such a fun partnership. It was something that I could include my family in, so my daughter and I did this together. I’m definitely Team Grape and Popsicle is a classic. It’s something I’ve had every summer of my life since I was a kid, so to be interactive with it was fun for me.
WW: What made you side with Team Grape in this feud?
Ashlee Simpson: I love grape because it’s the underdog. Everybody’s always choosing cherry and orange, but you’re always gonna eat the popsicle you want. I think it’s the best flavor, and I like things that not everyone else picks.
