Madelyn Cline may not be on a treasure hunt in real life, but she certainly struck gold with her role as Sarah Cameron in the hit Netflix series, Outer Banks. Now, after four successful seasons, the story is coming to an end with a fifth and final run of episodes.

Outer Banks premiered in 2020 and the addictive, high-stakes treasure hunting plot immediately pushed the series to No. 1 on Netflix. That, combined with its release during the COVID-19 quarantine, allowed fans an immersive escape to the show’s warm, coastal setting. While everyone was stuck at home, unable to travel, the drama series gave viewers a glimpse into the idyllic “Paradise on Earth.”

The series follows teen outcast John B, who enlists his friends to go on a treasure hunt for a mysterious shipwreck that allegedly held millions of dollars worth of gold. Linked to his father’s disappearance, John B and his friends encounter some dangerous secrets and people who know more than they say.

Beyond the series, Cline is partnering up with Sanpellegrino for the launch of their newest flavor, Ciao! Limoncello, which promises to give everyone a taste of Italy. Woman’s World had a chance to chat with the actress about her partnership, the fifth and final season of Outer Banks and her upcoming projects.

Woman’s World: Let’s talk a bit about your partnership with Sanpellegrino Ciao!

Madelyn Cline: I have loved Sanpellegrino for a long time, and I love Ciao! Limoncello, the newest flavor, so I’m just so happy they thought of me as a limoncello girl. It captures Italy so well. I’ve been able to travel to Italy a couple times for work and fashion weeks, and one of my favorite things is the celebration of  food and drink and the gathering of friends for a meal. Some of my favorite memories are sitting outside on patios and having a big family-style meal, having your limoncello afterwards and the conversations. It really captures that feeling so well and it’s such a great summer drink. I love hosting my friends and we’re actually having a little get together soon, where there will be plenty of limoncello.

Woman’s World: There’s also the Ciao! Limoncello Club on June 24 and 25. Can you share more details about the club and how it will bring a “taste of Italy” to everyone in attendance?

Madelyn Cline: We’re bringing the Amalfi Coast to New York, so we can bring those Italian summer vibes to those who aren’t in Italy yet. It’s just a big celebration of the new flavor. It’s gonna be so fun, it’s so cute and we’re gonna have a great time.

Woman’s World:  For any of our readers who have yet to visit Italy, can you share some of your best suggestions of things to do or your favorite memories?

Madelyn Cline: I went to Milan for work and I don’t remember the name of the place, but I had the most incredible pasta and tiramisu I’ve ever had. Then when we were shooting [a project], I went to Taormina, Sicily, and Positano and that Italian coastal beach club vibe is exactly the vibe that we’re bringing to the event next week, which I’m really excited about.

My favorite memories are just sitting outside and enjoying meals. There is this beautiful square, and there’s a restaurant called Caffè Wunderbar, and it has divine vibes. Sitting and having your after-dinner limoncello with the restaurant owners, having conversations, meeting people, enjoying music and being near the water—just the overall immaculate summer vibes are my favorite memories and they’re always memories that are shared with friends.

Woman’s World: You’ve also been in some great films and TV shows, but one in particular is I Know What You Did Last Summer. What was it like to bring that classic story to life?

Madelyn Cline: It was so fun. I obviously love the original, too. I am a huge fan and the original cast is epic, so to bring it back as a celebration of the original story and then putting our own twist on it for a newer generation was really fun. Finding inspiration in the original cast was amazing and so was meeting everyone who came back. We also had the best cast. Everyone is so talented and so epic, and we just had the best time in Australia on location together. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Sam Lansky [writers] are my heroes. I love them and I’m so happy that the movie brought us together.

Woman’s World: Outer Banks is embarking on its fifth and final season. What has it been like to be a part of such a cultural phenomenon and to wrap up that chapter?

Madelyn Cline: It’s truly amazing. I remember when I was starting out thinking how cool it must be for actors to be on a show that is loved so much and what it might feel like to live with a character for so many years. It was the most incredible training ground for me. I learned so much on that show and I’m deeply grateful for it. It’s taught me everything. It gave me an incredible foundation and appreciation for what I do. So, it’s really been the best experience and I’m really happy with where we’re closing the book, and I hope other people are happy, and I hope they enjoy it. It’s fun.

Woman’s World: If there were to be a sixth season of the show, where would you want to see the Pogues end up next?

Madelyn Cline: I would like to see them end up in LA, showered, fed and at peace—maybe with a Ciao! Limoncello in their hands, by the pool.

Woman’s World: Describe the season in a few words.

Madelyn Cline:  Exciting, adrenaline and closure.

Woman’s World: Are there any other projects you have in the works?

Madelyn Cline: Yes, I just wrapped on The Comeback King a couple days ago, which was the most fun I’ve ever had on a set, ever. It was such a dream to work with Glen [Powell], Judd [Apatow] and Cristin [Milioti]—the whole cast is incredible. We have some incredible actors and comedians, and also singers and cameos. It really is unreal and I’m so excited.
