Some famous faces are simply synonymous with the early 2000s, and Chad Michael Murray happens to be one of them. The now-43-year-old actor made waves in series like One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls, as well as films like A Cinderella Story (2004) and Freaky Friday (2003) during his early career, and now, the actor is revisiting one of the beloved roles of his youth in Freakier Friday (2025). On Tuesday, Murray was joined at the premiere of his new movie by his wife, Sarah Roemer, and his two children, whom the couple has largely kept out of the limelight. Who is Chad Michael Murray’s wife?
Chad Michael Murray met his wife, a fellow actress, back in 2013 on the set of Chosen, though she’d been acting for quite some time before then. Sarah Roemer is known for her roles in films like Disturbia (2007), Fired Up! (2009), Hachi: A Dog’s Tale (2009) and Wristcutters: A Love Story (2006), but we can’t imagine any of these roles measure up to the one that led her to her husband, whom she married in 2014. Since Chad Michael Murray and Sarah Roemer tied the knot, they’ve welcomed three children and have enjoyed a private life together. However, that doesn’t stop this duo from singing one another’s praises on social media from time to time.
“It’s been the best decade of my life by far—sharing each and every moment with you,” Murray wrote in a sweet tribute to his wife shared to Instagram. “We’ve grown this little pack together and seen so much of the world as a family. I’m so grateful for you Sarah. Every day is a better and much brighter day with you in it. I hope and pray for at least 50 more anniversaries with you.”
The hunky Sullivan’s Crossing actor had millions of teen girls wishing they’d be the lucky lady to steal his heart, and it’s safe to say he’s definitely husband material!
“I think when I was younger, romance was an idea to me, but now I think romance is in the little things that you never thought were romantic before,” he explained in a 2023 interview with Parade. “Like let’s say I work 14 hours, and I come home and I’m exhausted and usually you just want to take your clothes off and just go to bed, right? But let’s say my wife’s under the weather or I can tell she’s just run down from being with the kids all day. [I] clock in and go, ‘I got this.’ I run over and do the dishes and pick up and put the kids to bed and be like, ‘Go, go, go, go rest. I got this. We’re fine.’ That’s romantic to me in a different way than it ever would have been when I was, say, 20. That to me is teamwork. That to me is love.”

Though he’s opened up about his marriage here and there over the years, he’s kept his children out of the limelight, two out of the three only just making their first public appearance at the Freakier Friday premiere. The names of his son, 9, and daughter, 8, have yet to be revealed, but he and his family looked as sweet as can be as they enjoyed a public outing. Chad and Sarah also have another daughter, who they welcomed in 2023.
Though Murray brought to life his Freaky Friday role over 20 years ago, the actor revealed to Parade recently that prior to filming the sequel, he showed his kids the movie so they had an idea of what he was off to do. “We watched the first one right before I started filming, so I could say, ‘Hey guys, this is what Daddy’s going to do. This is a story that I’m going to go tell,’” he shared. “And I just remembered them laughing so hard at the movie and saying, ‘Daddy, what are you doing? Why are you doing that? Why are you doing this?’” We love this sweet family of 5!
