Poppi Soda Agrees to $8.9M Payout After Health Claims Disputed — Here’s How to File a Refund Claim
Poppi soda is offering refunds to customers after a class-action lawsuit. Learn how to file a claim, how much you can get, and the deadline to submit
Healthy soda alternatives can be great when you want to enjoy a fizzy drink without derailing your diet. Some of these drink brands are even designed to support your digestive system–or so they claim. One brand, Poppi, has been under fire for the last year after a customer alleged the drink wasn’t very healthy despite it being advertised as such. Now, the company will be offering refunds to other customers who have been unhappy with its products. Keep reading to learn more about the Poppi settlement payout and how you can get a refund by filing a claim.
What is the Poppi settlement about?
In 2024, a woman filed a class-action lawsuit against the beverage brand Poppi, claiming that the products don’t improve gut health in a significant way. The prebiotic soda launched in 2018, advertising a “gut healthy” alternative to traditional carbonated beverages. It is also known to have low-sugar options and only clocks 30 calories per drink.
But the health benefits don’t seem to match Poppi’s marketing. In the lawsuit, it states that someone would need to drink at least four cans of Poppi to “receive any health benefits from its prebiotic fiber,” but the sugar content would offset the benefits. The plaintiffs also claimed that consumers wouldn’t have purchased the soda had they known this, reports WCNC.com.
Though the company has not admitted to any wrongdoing and assures the product labeling is truthful, it still has agreed to a settlement. Poppi will be offering a payout of $8.9 million to appease its customers.
Who is eligible to file a Poppi claim?
If you purchased any Poppi sodas between January 2020 and July 18, 2025, you can receive a refund from the company. The settlement covers all flavors and package sizes of Poppi products purchased in the U.S., so you could get your money back even if you only bought one variety.
However, payments will only be issued per household rather than per person, so not everyone in your residence will get a payment even if everyone files a claim.
Also important to note: While a receipt or proof or purchase is not required, those who do have this documentation will be eligible for a higher refund. If you have copies of your receipts available, it’s worth tracking them down.
How much can you get from the Poppi settlement?

Refund payments for the settlement are based on product size, and the minimum claim is $5.00. This means that you can’t receive a refund if you’d only be filing a claim for a single can of Poppi soda.
Here’s the payment breakdown for customers who have proof of purchase:
- Can of Poppi soda: 75 cents
- 4-pack of Poppi soda: $3
- 8-pack of Poppi soda: $6
- 12-pack or 15-pack of Poppi soda: $9
Multiple claims from the same household (meaning anyone occupying the same dwelling unit) will be treated as one single claim.
Anyone who doesn’t have a receipt is thankfully not out of luck! You can still file a claim and receive a maximum payment of $16 per household.
There is the possibility, however, that these amounts may change. The settlement states that payments could be reduced or increased depending on the number of claims, plus any legal expenses that need to be paid.
How to submit a Poppi settlement claim
If you wish to receive a refund for your Poppi sodas, you have until September 26, 2025 to file a claim. This can be done online or by mailing it to the following address: In re VNGR Beverage, LLC Litigation Settlement Administrator, P.O. Box 301134, Los Angeles, CA 90030-1134.
Anyone who wishes to opt out or object to the settlement must also do so by the September deadline.
The final approval hearing for the Poppi settlement is scheduled for November 20, 2025 in federal court. If it gets approved, WCNC reports that payments will be sent out within 90 days after the finalizing of the settlement.
