I Stood in Line for Mayo Art at Hellman’s NYC Gallery Pop-Up—Where Sandwiches Stole the Show
Guests came for the art but stayed for the mayo! Inside Hellmann’s one-day-only New York City event
Hellmann’s delighted New Yorkers with a one-day-only pop-up that had everyone talking — and tasting! The event took place at 155 Suffolk Street in New York City to celebrate the joy of the “mayoment,” that irresistible moment when a heavenly bite — think a perfectly layered sandwich or creamy dip — is just too good to put down…even if you’re in the middle of making art!

Art meets appetite at a mayo-inspired pop-up
The playful gallery was curated by comedian and cultural tastemaker Kareem Rahma — the creative genius behind SubwayTakes and Museum of Pizza. Whimsical, half-finished pieces from talented NYC artists were on display. The catch? Each one charmingly abandoned mid-stroke, thanks to a lip-smacking mayo distraction!

“I was halfway through an incredible sandwich — the kind that makes everything else disappear — when it hit me,” says Kareem Rahma, pausing to wipe his hands. “That feeling of being totally lost in the moment, that was the spark. So I asked each artist to do the same: step away from the work, savor something delicious, and let that joy fuel their creativity. What came back was this collection — a tribute to the magic of a well-timed Mayoment.”

Guests strolled through the fun-filled space that was decorated to fit the theme — including a too-cute photobooth station and decor in the restroom.

A gallery experience like no other
Mayo lovers had the chance to savor inventive Hellmann’s-inspired snacks — like the Mayoment Smashburger with Caramelized Onions, and even got to hear Kareem share the heartwarming story behind the concept.

Hellmann’s tip: Celebrate the joy of a pause
“At Hellmann’s, we know that a truly great moment can stop you in your tracks—especially when it comes in the form of an unforgettable bite,” says Jessica Grigoriou, SVP of Marketing, Condiments at Unilever North America. “With The Art of the Mayoment gallery, we’re celebrating those delicious interruptions and showcasing how even an unfinished work of art can tell a bold, flavorful story thanks to Hellmann’s.”
Now, Hellmann’s fans are invited to celebrate joyful indulgence and showcase the delicious power of a creative pause. We call that a savory success!
