A Look Inside Frankie Valli’s 4 Marriages—From His First Wife in 1957 to His Recent Union in 2023
Get all of the inside details on each of Frankie Valli’s marriages with Mary Mandel, Randy Clohessy and more
Famed musician Frankie Valli rose to fame thanks to his impressive and distinctive falsetto voice, which landed him in the role of frontman for the Four Seasons in 1960. The vocal quartet topped the charts with hits such as “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Sherry.”
Valli along with the other Four Seasons members — Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi — became known as the Jersey Boys, as they originated in Newark, New Jersey. The foursome became one of the best-selling musical acts of all time.
After the Four Seasons split up in the early 1970s, Valli went on to begin a successful solo career, putting out major tracks like “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and the theme for the 1978 movie Grease.
Throughout his success, Valli tied the knot more than once, marrying his fourth wife just last year in 2023. Take a look back at each of Valli’s marriages and get the details on each union.
Frankie Valli’s first marriage to Mary Mandel: tragedy and resilience
Valli wed first wife Mary Mandel, also known as Mary Delgado, in 1957 and remained married to her until 1971. The details of their relationship have been kept private, but Mandel has been portrayed in the production of Jersey Boys.
While together, the couple welcomed two children of their own — Antonia and Francine — and Valli became the stepfather to Mandel’s daughter, Celia, who she had with her ex-husband.
Unfortunately, Celia died in 1980 in a tragic accident after falling from a fire escape. Six months later, his daughter Francine died of an accidental drug overdose at age 20.
A short-lived romance: Frankie Valli’s marriage to MaryAnn Hannigan

In 1970, Valli met the woman who would become his second wife: 20-year-old MaryAnn Hannigan. At first, the two were only friends, as Valli was still married to Mandel.
“She was a pal when I needed one, but because I’d been hurt before, I resisted what I was feeling about her,” Valli explained.
But in 1974, the two tied the knot and relocated to New Jersey to be closer to Valli’s kids. The couple never had children together and eventually ended up divorcing in 1982.
Raising a Family: Frankie Valli’s third marriage to Randy Clohessy

The Four Seasons’ frontman wed his third wife, Randy Clohessy, in 1984 and remained together for 20 years until 2004. While married, the couple welcomed three children — Francesco in 1988 and twins Emilio and Brando in 1995.
Although there aren’t many details surrounding the couple’s split, Valli’s close friend, Stewie Stone, shared his thoughts: “This was a tough breakup because of the boys… I really don’t know why it didn’t work out. People don’t get married to get divorced. Maybe people weren’t meant to be together forever.”
Love later in life: Frankie Valli and Jackie Jacobs’ marriage at 89

Valli met his fourth and current wife, Jackie Jacobs, in 2007 while at a dinner in Los Angeles.
“We met at a restaurant where he joined my friends and I for dinner,” Jacobs shared in an interview. “We kept in touch by phone until he called me and asked for a date in late 2015. We’ve been together ever since.”
Valli married Jacobs after nearly 8 years of dating at age 89, something he didn’t expect to do at this point. “It’s terrific to have found love once again at this stage of my life,” Valli explained.
Jacobs attended the University of Maryland, where she studied radio, television and film, and went on to become a CBS marketing executive. She began her career there in 1998 and is currently a senior director at the corporation.
Valli’s wife is very supportive of his career and often walks the red carpet with her husband. Jacobs enthused about Valli’s live performances, “His shows are so fantastic. He did a show a few weeks ago at the Saban Theater and there have been people who have said it may have been one of the best shows he’s ever done in his life. It was incredible.”
